Why make another topic.... *sigh*

Because this is a serious suggestion and in the other thread (which already has reached 150 replies) noone would read it.

On topic: Yeah I think that's a step in order to improve the mining system. A nerf of the price by 40% while boosting the yields by 20% is where my vote goes. With one more condition; to create more mining spots.

I have an idea, let's nerf pirating to a limit of $500k per transaction. Then they can nerf the mining and trading all they want.

if you get less by mining they pirate less. simple cause nobody will pay them if they ask for way more than the cargo is worth.

kill and take cargo wont be worth since they have to find a FL/merc who delivers it for them or they have a trans themselft BUT this thill means they get less for the load of ore then

so more or less... if you nerf price per unit in ore you also "nerf" pirating

this maybe happens if you change it for the first days but they wont demand this amount if they checked the forum/got it anywhere else

Currently, for a solo miner in a Hegemon in T23, it takes me about 20minutes to fill my hold, then about 20 minutes to get to New Berlin, then another 20 minutes to get back. That's if I'm really pushing it and don't do any RPing or run into any pirates along the way, and use a less-than-optimal return commodity load, but we'll use it anyway.

At that rate, I'm already only spending only 33% of my time mining. The rest of the time I'm a trader. Even if you double drop rates, my transit times remain the same, so then I spend 10 minutes mining and 40 minutes in transit, down to 20% of my time mining, but it's still a total of 50 minutes. To keep the same rate of cash earning per total time, you'd need to lower prices by only 17%--that still makes for a very expensive cargo hold on the trip out there, and if I get pirated close to the end of the line I've lost 30minutes of time (whereas before I would've lost 40minutes).

For someone mining for hauling partners, you'd end up with the scenario where a single miner can keep a fairly large number of transports continuously supplied, which requires a lot more people to pull off (so that I'm not just sitting there on a giant pile of ore waiting for my transports to get back). Even then, 3/4ths of the people involved in your mining operation will be nothing but traders, and profits would probably increase from what they are now.

Which, of course, would cause mining profits to get nerfed to account for this, which would completely screw the solo miner and cause those traders to move back to normal trade routes anyway.

get haulers.

you are a miner. you are meant to sit in miningfields

hegemons are not meant to fly through sirius to sell their ore.

as well its more profitable to mine and sell the ore at this point. if there is nobody. find a friend/faction or any other player who need credits and ask one or two to bring away the ore for you

[color=#FFFFFF]I support this idea

I think this would only be needed for gold and nobium ore. Leave the rest alone. Makes other places more feasible to mine.

Idea (mining) - Mao - 03-02-2011

The mining system is not broken. The players are. Fix them. Leave the mining system alone.

Thank you very much!

1. Hegemon price is tooooo low (22 mill). Make it 50 mill.

2. Nerf gold and niobium selling price to max 8k per unit

3. Buff some commodities and there will be more traders

Idea (mining) - Vexykin - 03-02-2011

Naw...mining should stay as it is!

Excellent plan, I'll get a hauler and F1 over to it to grab the ore and then use that to transport.

I don't have friends, that's why I play Freelancer. I play fairly late at night when the server is relatively empty, I don't stand a chance of finding some random person to sell ore to in T23. That might work in Dublin, but not in T23, there aren't enough people going there.

Regarding the F1 thing. I do it all the time or use my other laptop just for the freight exchange. However I don't think people should F1 within range of other peoples scanners. Seems like bad form somehow.
