The server rules state any mod or file changes not associated with Discovery mod will be considered cheating and it's an offense punishable with permanent ban.
There're standalone graphics mods out there, but I don't think any of them are compatible with Discovery unless you make your own and don't tell people about it.

But what about that sound mod lots of people have that replaces the laser sound effects with real weapon sounds? Is that a bannable offense? Seems a bit stupid if it is.

Why are they a bannable offense? It's not like they alter gameplay or server functionality in any way, besides, people are obviously using such mods, and as far as SeaFalcons videos have shown, they do work with Disco.
It would be useful if someone with actual insight into the inner workings to this mod could shed some light on this.
In the meantime, I'll make sure not go here to cry after I clog the discovery machinery with incompatible modifications.
