yea, thats one of the main issues with this idea as a whole, its hard enough to make money as it is:D

still though, Id like it.

Why just 10%? Make it 10-50%!

If your ships gets destroyed, there might be sometimes a higher chance that most of your ship is still intact (or very salvageable).

For example, inRP you only need to take out the bridge of a ship, or it's power core explodes and takes all the engines with it, but the rest is quite okay (you're dead anyway) ... at least to me, this would make more sense than the 10% which is quite like the battleship debris one can find when flying from Southampton to Trafalgar!

Think about it:D

I voted YES - would reduce Caps, but I don't see this as a bad thing

Interesting concept, much more acceptable than losing ships. But like previously stated make the penalty around 10% to 50% with least chance to get 50% and most chance for 10%.

My vote is no, since I'd prefer the ship to be unaccessable for 24 hours after death.

I love this Idea, and yes i fly a dread,so if you cannot afford to repair it? don't use it. Also it would stop all the dam planet diving idiots do so they can avoid repairing ships after a fight. IE pay a little fix damaged gear,or planet dive, and pay alot for damaged everything.
Also will make traders think more before hitting cruise rapidly. As they will now loose cargo, and big repairs when they die.
I think this Idea is all good for any faction, and player out their. Oh except the whiners who want everything for free, and to lazy to work for their toys.(my oppinions almost as low as game hackers)

I love this idea, but voted no. The rules treat ships and weapons as pixels in a 7 year old video game, not spacecraft part of an alternate universe in the Sirius sector. I feel adding this feature would only increase the level of Q_Q, and would not be used as a tool to enable players freedom to roleplay to the limits of their imaginations.

Ship Cripple on Death - Hidamari - 04-18-2011

it would reduce the numbers of "just Kill Me" that is seen.

people planet diving, and sun diving, and basically suiciding to get out of paying a tiny fee for their ships damage, if your ship explodes it should cost more to get it back up to working standards.

This would be a decent alternative if people wont accept shiploss. Hopefully would encourage traders/miners (the backboneof sirius economy) cos money is more needed, and cos now pirates have something to lose, not just their targets.

Capital owners will hate this, everyone else will love it.

So, it may lower the number of active capital ships, while snubcraft will be all over the place.

How is this a problem? Capital ships are meant to be craft of doom and feared, making them a bit rarer would be a bit more to that. I assume anyways.

I'm for it, even if I'll need to create a new trading char.
