Offensive is pretty much subjective, jihad itself as a noun means struggle, not holy war.
Edit: Therefore JihadJoe would literally be translated into StrugglingJoe.

Oh please, let's not get into this discussion about war. Yeah, everyone should feel sorry for the invaders into middle-eastern countries. The word Jihad in Joe's name is in no intention to offend people. The long sentences of swearwords in almost every player of a player-tagged group IS offensive. Because the intention is deliberate.

I think it's perfectly correct to ban them.
People are banned 7 days for a single f-word, so a faction with names that are (hidden) swearwords cannot be treated differently.
It's as easy as that.
I think JihadJoe's offer to admit it, change it and be unbanned was a very reasonable and mild one.
They decided not to do it. So... *shrugs*

So... Waratah, you've not actually said anything regarding the actual subject matter so far... That being the question about how exactly you manage to create ten different names, all of which are offensive in the player's native language, and then claim that it was a tragic accident involving twelve bullfrogs, a microwave and google, and that you didn't mean it, honest gov.
It's impossible to believe that a group of balkan players could simply not notice that these names were offensive, and think it was fine to use them.

My point is that decisions regarding language should be informed by the language being used on the server. We are expected to speak in English on the server - with the occasional word or phrase thrown for RP purposes.
Words like 'baka' are thrown about Kusari often without complaint - because everyone knows it is only intended as an RP insult.
Words like Eff-Ay-Gee are deleted on the forums because, although it means cigarette in slang English, the community is strongly influenced by the 'internet-speak' of younger people. This means Eff-Ay-Gee is a derogatory word for homosexual (and gets used an awful lot on the internet!).

Some one pressured that same excuse on the SCRA. "Russians and Soviets are offensive because they made gulags and killed people for not being useful in society." Yeah, they did, get over it. But that's not even the worst of it.
