Indies; why do we need them/what is good about them? - Sand-Viper - 04-21-2011

I love being an indie. It allows me to build up my own reputation as a heroic savior, or a heathenous villain, in the eyes of many. For example, I have a mercenary who is hostile to most of Kusari and Corsairs, but not much else. This allows me to fly around most anywhere and get the chance to role play with many a faction and get to know what its like for them. Whether it's striking up a conversation with a Zoner or having an argument with a Rheinlander; whatever happens is because of my own actions. No faction to tie me down. No rules to follow. Just me against the galaxy. It's truly the feel of a free spirit, and I do so love it a bunch.

I'm actually against people who are in tons of 'official' factions.

Because when there is action they don't show up.
When they are needed they are playing for an other faction who needs them too.
They don't show up at events because they are busy being active on an other faction etc. etc.
I will and always try to remain in one faction.
To give that faction the <3 that it needs.

Ow and being in a Official faction doesn't make you indie?
You are still the same person when playing on an other characters?
Or are you changed into a 'I no follow orders from u'?

I have no issues with 'indies' in general.
I have issues with some people (like rus) I no egliz)

PS. on a side note: I don't want 54786 skype group channels of people screaming 'HALP!'

This is both a good and bad thing.

I almost never agree with Snak3. But here he is dead on. Lolhutters come in both Indie, and faction colours.

1: Official factions often make you wait ages before you can fly a cap ship you want, if you are an indie you can have fun with it straight away.

2: You may not agree with the RP of the official faction, and so want to start a faction more in keeping with what you think that ID SHOULD be doing (possible one)

You mentioned official factions in your opinion.

The opposite of indie is being official

Why can't I talk about official factions?
No indies = Indies being faction members

When indies have to join factions to be able to say have a navy ship but...
They also want to fly a military ship they ahve to join that official faction too.

I can't see how I'm off topic.

Or do you mean all indies have to fly generic ID's such as Freelancer?

What's good about being an indie? If you show you can keep up with the official faction and they're not having their heads in the sky, they'll gladly have you rolling with them. And if you really do like rolling with them you might join them eventually.

Overall - it's good because it gives the player a chance to test the faction before joining it.

Without Indies, you cannot actually see if you like a faction before you join the official one.
Without Indies, there will only be official players obeying higher rankings in the official faction.
Without Indies, there will only be a capital battle every month maybe ?

Being an indie is fine in my opinion, as long as you stay in bounds of your RP and have a decent knowledge of English.

Also: Indie =/= Lolwut
