To think of it that's the reason. I reinstalled FL to try to get it working online and sure things it did say that it can not recognize my card when starting the fisrt time. So my guess is that it's the default selection of settings in that case for anybody else also. I roll with 8800GTS 640MB so that's why I'm looking for the native 1280x1024 of my monitor.
So it's ini tweaking time or command line time. Anyone can hint the way with that?

Hello.
I have also a 8800GTS and i can select 1900x1200, 1280x960, 1152x864 and below resolutions but not 1280x1024.
Perhaps the Freelancer Hardware Update by Louva-Deus can help.

From what I saw, looking inside of my Freelancer directory, Not to mention the EXE directory in the Mod folder of FLMM. The Hardware Update may actually be included as part of discovery, So I don't think that is going to change much. It is already there.
EDIT: Argh, Kinda oldish topic. I have gotta look at the last post dates more carefully before I post next time.

My screen is a 1440x900 Widescreen. I just have my Card set to run things at their proper resolution, with black borders around the edges. It doesn't bother me. I am quite used to it from other games, But they are still better if they natively support 16:10.

This bother me too, my monitor also runs at 1440x900 but for the life of me I am stuck with FL at 1024x768.
Jaicek-Are you sure that Disco has the hardware update? I know Old Steel pointed out that EOA website with file, but their is also a second one called the Freelancer QuickFix Patch too which seems to further the graphics.

Both have a very similar filesize. I am not 100% sure, but it seems like it does.
It has all the entries for newer graphics cards in it too.

Scroll down to [Display] section, add values into "size" parameter that you need.
Keep in mind though that non 4:3 resolutions will have screwed up HUD.

1400x1050 looks so nice and smooth on my laptop now...
