Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - SnakThree - 08-02-2011 If he swears already, you think he will abide 4 hour rules?.. Just explain nicely to him. If he does not listen to you, report him. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Fletcher - 08-02-2011 Just trying to find more ways other than sanctions since as Cannon said, I think, it should be a last resort. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Madvillain - 08-02-2011 yeah , doesn't make sense to deal with such people by pvp combat. will only make it worse. isn't there a console command that makes you ignore messages of certain players? i think that's a whole lot easy er then reporting someone. also it would give the admins more time to focus on really important stuff. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - SnakThree - 08-02-2011 ' Wrote:Just trying to find more ways other than sanctions since as Cannon said, I think, it should be a last resort.I would see it as pouring gasoline into fire. Subject would be even more angry for being shot down. Thus might even break more rules then swearing. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Jihadjoe - 08-02-2011 Fletch. Sanctions are a last resort, yes. However a far better method of dealing with it yourself would be saying "Please do not swear, some people around here will find it offensive." Reacting to an ooc or rule breaking moment in roleplay is a little bit smug and superiour in my opinion. It's better it's simply ignored, or alternatively handed over to someone who's job it is to prevent the rules from being broken, and ensure that roleplay is maintained. If someone is angry enough to start yelling obscenities at people for stuff, then the likelyhood is you'll just antagonise them further by getting them blown up repeatedly. Your action in bountying someone could lead to that person getting a far heavier fine/ban than they would have done without you making them more angry, and increasing the likelyhood they'll just flip out and be more offensive than they previously were. I'm pretty certain you don't want that to happen. That said, my personal opinion about people swearing on the server, is that the rules should be modified to allow people to swear, within reason, in character. If an f-bomb is more concerning to you than an NPC yelling "I CAAAAAAN'T BREEEATHE!" as you throw them (a representation of a human) out of their ship into the vacuum, then I think something is a little wrong in your mindset. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Vladimir - 08-02-2011 They never yelled that to me. After all, vacuum doesn't provide sound, and the real reason of death in vacuum would be being blown up from the inside because of all bodily fluids instantly boiling up. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - elrica - 08-02-2011 Swearing should be allowed in my opinion, just not directed at anyone in or out of RP. Simply because it seems a lot of people don't differentiate between RP insults and OOC insults. Which would lead to RP insults being taken personally, which means metagaming vendettas and drama. We have plenty of that already. It really shouldn't be encouraged though. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Cameron - 08-02-2011 Strange you would have someone blown up for swearing but call them a bugger. IMO there is no need to have a no swearing rule, vast majority of the server population is made up of adults and older teenagers. Most of us lost our innocence a long time ago. If someone is being particularly nasty, try to get them to calm down or leave the situation yourself till he cools off. If he persists call an admin. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - AeternusDoleo - 08-02-2011 You want to cut down on people whining in the system channel by shooting them, repeatedly? I think you'll find that has quite the opposite effect. |
