Why?
The red'ish look of the curret Vampires is quite fitting for the CR shipline. They also fit for the aggressive
behaviour of CR (which is alright with me), but they are in no way fitting for IMG once their shipline changes
to those new, brown'ish ships. Those ships have more of a civilian feeling to them.
Also many weapons have red-colored projectiles, IMG's main enemy, the Outcasts, have red projectile'd
weapons. It'd help in combats, in my opinion.
What did the Vanilla IMG weapon's projectiles look like?

How can it be changed?
Quite easily, this just requires some minor changes to most of the IMG weapons in the file
"[...]\Freelancer\DATA\EQUIPMENT\weapon_equip.ini" :
(cut away all the irrelevant stuff for these changes)
Those weapons have a more unique color combination, not just the red/orange like "all the other".
In the end I think this step back would be a great step forward.
So, I'd like to ask the developer who is in charge of weapon changes to consider this. Please.

Vampires are some of my favourite guns, and I really like the current red-ish. But this one looks much better. I approve :ylove:

And I'm told... by the guy who made the effect, that the IMG actually asked for that color. Could be wrong, d'no, but until I'm told otherwise I trust Lohingren's word on it.
Personally I'm not much of a fan of 'em, but then again I don't exactly fly either faction.
