Does RP even matter? - Caelum - 09-07-2011

Quote:Exactly my point, you can always make up a reason to shoot someone, so why bother with RP?
Because you enjoy it, and presumably, come to Discovery to do it.:P

...Of course, if you don't enjoy RP, that changes things <_<

He killed you? I would have killed you:P

You had the intention of carrying cargo, which I feel is enough to charge the same as if you had a full hold. I as a pirate would not risk not seeing you again when you had a full hold and getting nothing.

Anyway, back to what happened a few minutes ago. Do you have permission to enter Gallia? No, that's why I blew you up. Doesn't matter if Alesia has a good buy price for beryllium ore and you believe they're desperate enough for the ore to hire BMM Heggy's to ship it. I caught you on the way out, and although you were in the process of leaving Gallia decided that since you had entered Gallia without permission with cargo I would make you drop all of your return cargo. Which was probably going to Bretonia anyway.

Do you understand?

P.S. Wow, 12 people viewing a Q_Q thread? Forums must be void of anything decent to get that sort of activity in here...

You had a fricking ship to lose. And you are implying that others might not care about roleplay...

inRP was your life was only worth 1 million? You'd rather die instead of pay a lil 1 million more? Strange...

RP doesn't mean you get out of the situation... Just means you played your char. EX: This

As far as I know, nobody is insured by Interspace Commerce, the only corporation providing these services.

So yeah. Using imaginary roleplay... He could have said your ship is not insuranced from being fool and being destroyed when all was asked is less than 10% of ship's worth.

My point again, RP is imaginary so in the end there is no right or wrong, just weather person on the other side is considering your RP worthy enough to accept it and let you go, or they only care about blue msg, as i saw, in the end it seems RP is not as appreciated as you all say it is.

I feel like you should ask yourself the question you're asking others. Is your character keen on exploding? My characters are not keen on exploding. That's why he protects his life: the most important possession he has. Does that RP matter? "Of course not." is that answer most people give. There's a respawn button. We can always come up with another reason as to why we appear back at a base even though exploding is very unpleasant.

There are other motivations than money for some pirates. If you are a BMM and I am a Molly and I meet you, then I will tax you lots regardless of cargo. If you refuse I don't care. I'll kill you. It suits my goals as a Molly. If I am a Liberty Rogue and I meet a BMM, obviously I want to make money. If you die it doesn't help me. That RP matters.

Consider other's RP as well. Just because you can come up with a perfectly good reason for your character does not mean that the other character in the interaction would agree.

You are simply biased.

I see, that it was your fault for now acknowledging the superiority of person with mean guns. Your roleplay mistake led you to roleplay consequence. It is ROLEPLAY. You simply recieved the blue message. Does it offends you, that you are ignoring basic facts and proceed to rant about roleplay, which includes PEW PEW action too.
