Not in my opinion, they don't. FL already has more than enough ships. I really don't see the reason why we should go about adding more.

People like diversity. The ability to choose.
For example, how many different kinds of planes does the (I don't know where your from so) the US Air Force have?
WAY more than FL's ships including the REALLY bad ships like Patriot and Defender. I'm not too sure on the exact number, but I can think of a lot off the top of my head.

Sometimes, you can get too diverse. I was perfectly happy with a mod that unlocked capital ships, yet left the rest of the game untouched. That's why I want to host the older version. I'll fix the balancing issues myself.
But I guess I could get used to the "new" Discovery. The edited ship models (like the RH Bomber) fit in perfectly, while the brand new models like the Mars Flyer don't fit in at all. I could do something about the sound effects, but that isn't going to make that... thing go away.
Oh, and how many new models are there in total?

Denier in the original FL the only fighters being used were the Eagle and the Sabre. Two of the 30-40 some fighters in the game even got used. Now we have about 8-10 being used. This makes the server have a little more life to it than one where you see every person in an Eagle with wildfires and nomad guns on it.

I really wouldn't mind new ships at all, as long as they're modelled properly.

Edited FL models, the Hugonaut, Marsflyer, Slipstream, and one one Gammu but forgot the name......and i think thats it, those are the only " Non-FL " models are those, and honestly you don't even notice them in the game, its not like you see squadrons of Marsflyers everywhere, only thing thats common site is the Hugonaut, and its flown by the Rougues and mollys, hell the Corsairs have Osirus class BS in Omi Delta, fightin Bounty hunters and nomads.

The marsflyer serves one purpose: To be stripped of weaponry.
Unless you hate being cool and think flying round in a coathanger shaped baige thing is the way forward?
