Marsflier Debate - Dab - 02-27-2006 The turrets still need to be made unmountable if we keep it. Its not that the marsflyer is too powerful. Its that its turrets being on the battleships is too powerful. Being able to remove its weaps is unbalancing the game. So what if you spent money to get tons of them? You should care more about keeping balance than getting your own super-BS. Marsflier Debate - finius - 02-27-2006 Denier has a good point! My huegenot, is as I say armed with marsflier weapons, and it brought a battleship to within an inch of its life, and that was my first ever attempt at flying a capitol ship! As for NPC's, it can slaughter battlegroups, I just sit outside Manhattan, wait and scoop up whats left of them after thrirty seconds of weapons exchange. Hell, if I mount a battleship shield on it, it'll become virtually unstopabble! I think the only way round this is to reshuffle the way our fighter system works, get rid of the old $500,000 and lower fighters, then downgrade all the new ones to their level and take the weapons down, then give B/S their own class of 9/10 weaponry, or something along those lines, out with the obselete is what I say...oh...and out with the marsflyer too :P . It looks like a boomerang...and it acts like one too...no matter how hard I try I can't get rid of it! Marsflier Debate - Angel - 02-27-2006 Well, It was investing, I spent the time to do it all myself, whats wrong with carefull planning, and hard work?, i though of something new and now everyones moaning, bleh " Ohh Look some spent alot of time and money to work on a character and now there stronger than me, lets ban the Marsflyer so they can't do it again " there was nothin wrong with puttin Corsair Fighter Turrets on Capital ships,or puttin 21 Osirus class turrets on a ship but when marsflyer wasn't here and now everyone complains, like i said, if you put together an idea. OHH by the way if you people haven't read, Korrd and I bought fought a Capital class ship with our " UNBALANCED SHIPS " and nearly lost, I had to have a mercy killing due to i had so low HP left. Ive Died against fighters, and Bombers Wooooooooooo yeah so unfair on my part. Like i keep saying, FREELANCER!! is the freedom do have fun and explore new things. Marsflier Debate - Kane - 02-27-2006 It's a good ship by itself. It does look out of place, and the weapons are starting to unbalance the game (Some of us don't have the time or energy to buy that thing over and over again just to harvest the turrets). The solution to this is simple; -Make the Battleships a heck of a lot better, such as weapons, energy, etc. (No, I don't care if you have to up the price for this. They could all cost 100 mill for all I care) -Make the weapons of the Marsflyer unmountable (Personaly, looking at the ships Denir posted I see a bunch of other ships we could add that look better and fit better. Just keep hitting "Next Medium" to check them all out) -Take away the Marsflyer compleatly (I'll live. There are some other ships i'm looking at that have some advantages over said Marsflyer) In the end, these are all recomendations. It's Igiss', and "everyone else contributing to this mod"s', decision. Marsflier Debate - Virus - 02-28-2006 My vote is keep it, make the weapons, yes all of them, unmountable. Period. You buy one, you buy a stock one. The only thing that should be able to be customized is the Mine Dropper and Counter Measure. Marsflier Debate - f2k - 02-28-2006 I think it should be removed Its ugly as sin, it doesnt look like it belongs in the FreeLancer universe, and its weapons are ridiculously overpowered Marsflier Debate - xit - 02-28-2006 I say keep it. Yes, it's weapons are overpowered, and yes it doesn't really look like it belongs in the Freelancer universe. But so what? The game is unbalanced, shipwise, as it is, so it doesn't really matter. And so what if it doesn't look like it belongs to the universe? It's a big universe, who knows what other races or whatnot are out there? Marsflier Debate - Fire_Tzunami - 02-28-2006 I agree with angel :yahoo: :yahoo: . The drawback it has is the missing hardpoint for a tropedo. Marsflier Debate - Igiss - 02-28-2006 I guess that no one really payed any attention to the post where I said that Pathfinders do not allow to use their models. When I tried to use one they forced me to take it out of the mod, and first version of 4.78 was removed from Lancers because of this. And - most professional modellers who create custom ship models will not allow their usage. It's easier when we have some models from other games that were not created from scratch, but rather converted. Then developers of original game own the design, not those who converted the ships to FL format. I'm personally against removing of Marsflyer - first, because it's a professionally made craft; second, because it really adds variety. As for weapons, this issue is easy to fix.
