Bot/Batt Leaching - MrSns - 03-16-2008 Voted Yes. Im always comeing up against Ppl that leach the B&B off npcs and it takes ages t kill.. Its really itarting :| yes for me Bot/Batt Leaching - Varyag - 03-16-2008 All we need is more rules for the lawyers to quote during a battle... Bot and Bat farming is ok in my book as long as you remain part of the battle to do it. It does backfire a lot though. It is true, You shouldn't shoot at your own NPCs but how many times have any of us been in the position where a rogue mine or missile hit the wrong target turning all the world against you, it could have been that something was making them attack him first. I am not sure that the RM would be in a winning situation in front of New Berlin where they attacked their own NPCs. BS patrols can ruin your day especially low on supplies. It seems kind of petty to print screen this, or try. Was there no way to talk about it after the battle to try and work something out? It seems so many people have an itchy print screen finger these days. I know some situations are so unsolvable that they warrant it, but this certainly doesn't qualify. You know how I feel about RHA so no hard feelings... but I really had to put this plainly. I voted no Varyag Bot/Batt Leaching - ScornStar - 03-16-2008 This is a PVP enhancer that is all pick your battle grounds wisely. I shoot everything that shoot at me and if I tractor in useful little disposable nano bots that fix my ship damn right I'm gonna use them. NPCs can be hard enough to kill in some places with a player breathing down your back. If you chase the NPC too long the player may get you. Leave it alone. Its OORP to make battle convienent, because battle is not convienent, and we should not lower available tactics down to a reflex contest. Lets keep brains and wit in it too. That includes target selection. Bot/Batt Leaching - n00bl3t - 03-16-2008 Voted no. It's a reasonable tactic & long fights are awesome. Sub-target enemy weapons. If you can't shoot well enough to rip off their guns then use mines, torps and missiles. Bot/Batt Leaching - Exile - 03-16-2008 Couldnt win, and decided to make a thread, in the hopes theres a rule against the "leeching"? Voted no. It may be a "dirty" tactic, but it does make sence. Prolonging your defeat by getting more Nanobots and shieldbatteries, in the hopes a knight with shining armor comes and resque you. Bot/Batt Leaching - Jinx - 03-16-2008 well, its a roleplay server in the first place. - so, for a character, there is little difference between a playertarget and a NPC target. both represent hostiles; some are more skilled ( players usually ) and some are less skilled ( hopefully NPCs usually [except centurion pilots, who are gods] ). so - for a character, it is natural to take out hostile targets. - a player may "leave" bats and bots when he is killed, and so does a NPC. a player tries to use up his bats and bots in order not to die... so does the NPC ( and they do it with quite some efficiency ). most factions - if they stuck to their faction only weapons ( excluding bombers for that example ) - wouldn t benefit much from shooting down NPCs, unless they re flying in much stronger ships ( like VHF vs. HF or LF ). there is no roleplay reason to make it sanctionable to kill NPCs. there might be a gameplay reason, - but in that case, i think its less than irrelevant. however, it is of course sanctionable to shoot down your own faction NPCs, - not cause its bad sportsmanship, but cause it violates the rule that dictates roleplay. ( so, even if you make use of mines with your own NPCs around, and turn them red, - you must not shoot them down, even if they shoot at you after it ) there is allways a way to shake angry NPCs off. - usually you just thrust away from them and they get lost. Bot/Batt Leaching - Bjorn - 03-16-2008 No. Because all things others already presented. Hell, even more job for admins in sanctioning, less tactics, and of course less roleplay. Keep it as it is. Bot/Batt Leaching - Chucc - 03-16-2008 I was asked to help in training the other night, and we were fighting, and my opponent stopped, so I did as well. He asked if I was using bat and bot? I said yes. I then explained this same thing. If you are fighting for your life, and there is something that can help you live, you use it. They are there to make you have to work harder. I know that they can make a difference in length, sure, but if you practice, it won't matter. It just shows who has the skill and who doesn't. Bottom line. I open fire to kill. I dodge and use bats/bots to live. I will probably live while you die 'honorably', but I will thank you for the gear when you pop. As they say, 'If you die, we split your gear.' Didn't vote. Bot/Batt Leaching - Kambei - 03-16-2008 I vote no, if someone have enough time to kill NPCs during fight... problem is on your side because you are not enough good to kill him without "lucky shot". It happpend to me constantly but I must say Im not good in dogfights. Bot/Batt Leaching - ParanoidAndroid - 03-16-2008 I'm 100% sure that it would be impossible to enforce on players such a rule. Anyway it's pointless in my opinion, if someone is going down, he will be shot down faster or just a few seconds later, it's just a matter of time and farming bats/nano on npc won't help him. NO for this idea. |
