Nah, no such luck, but your response was defensive, at least mildly so. Even if you won't admit it. What I don't understand is why you should be disdainful. Am I not allowed to respond to you, even if I do so mistakenly or, in the case above, with a little humour?

I would suggest that, in future, you consider talking to people above your station with due deference. Flood, this may be but that is no excuse for you to get ideas above your station.
