Depends on your faction and your enemys, try to counter their shield defence, have not so slow but not so fast refire, and hit enemy all time.
In my eyes, best guns now is Kalashnikovs, they do damage like Hammerfalls but also very fast. eats too much energy however

Buckshots are/were the best weapons in this game. And Manta is simply the best ship. Mostly because of buckshots, and because I don't need vertical stafes with it.
But I didn't test out the new gen 8.33s besides Flashpoints. I've been slapped around by Sammaels pretty good though.

Try out "Luger D" and "Purple Godess", I like that setup.
(Because this setup is effective against any shield and they are 700 m/s...)
