We're pretty tired and sick of it that after decades that have passed the whole world still plays the Nazi card on us. Times have changed and so did the german population, we've accepted that dark part of our history but when you come over here you'll face a new country that can't be compared to what's been bombed to pieces in the 1940ies.

about food: try Schnitzel or CurryWurst and the Beer of course =)
about germans: they learn english since 2nd grade. you can drive as fast as you want on our highways and if you scream heil hitler you might end up in jail. We dont like to talk about our past - maybe the elder ones ^^

Berlin has some nice museums, Munich is a nice city as well.
How's the weather during that time?
It should be above 15°C mostly, could still be a bit rainy if you are unlucky. Best bet would be to check out the weather forecast before you start the trip :|
What local food should I try?
Try a Döner if you never had one before, people tend to like them a lot.
Do people in Germany know English as well?
Some do, but dont expect many to talk in english.
Any etiquette I must know so as to not insult the local populace?
Try not to hold your right arm up too high.
Could also use some tips on basic German. Basic communications skills such as "How much?" and "How do I get to such-and-such?" always come in handy.

dresden is where the hessians have their base, better stay where the RM is more present.
Germany is not bad, just note that speaking english is difficult for most germans and they try to avoid it, if you try to speak german they will try to understand;)

Try to eat the schnitzel, it's very very good, also beer is good.
Don't talk anything if it contains the words:Jews, war, holocaust, Hitler, East Germany, Nazi.
Weather in Germany can be a little cold, at least for my taste.
So, if you go there, eat what I recommended you to eat, don't say the words I told you not to say, and have some raining clothes with you just in case, you should have a good time there, but try some basic German, it might make the people a tad friendlier towards you as you try to speak their language, or more hostile as they have to burn their brains to try and understand you if you speak really bad but you should try it nonetheless, it can't do any harm.

Weather is 'perfect' currently. Well, it is where I live.
You really should try the famous Schnitzel and Bratwurst. Don't forget a fresh 'Pils' Bier as drink.
About the english skills; Most people... - no. Everyone can speak english. Seriously. Don't need to learn german just for a small trip. But saying stuff like "Danke.", "Hallo.", "Guten Tag/Abend.", "Auf wiedersehen." etc. would draw a smile on some people's face.

It's not that extreme actually. People make fun of Hitler here, too. Or at least, where I live.
When being in Berlin or DDR... well better don't.:D
But hey, I've been once in France, when a stranger beat me in my face, while saying "Nazi". Just because I'm german. That's extreme.;)
Just stick to younger people. They're more relaxed.
