A little querk on 4hour rule. - Daedric - 04-11-2012 ' Wrote:Once in my lifetime I must agree with ryoken, that this is awesome loophole that admins have not covered (yet?). It isn't a loophole. The trader can only defend himself in a system where he was destroyed. Therefore, the fighter started the combat - that means if he dies it is his fault as he started the fight and he is restricted by the 4 hour rule. Nothing confusing or loopholish about it. It's not much different from Navy going to blow up the same Rogues they just popped in another system and loose the second time. A little querk on 4hour rule. - Jimothy - 04-12-2012 In all fairness, I, who favours trading and smuggling, tend to stick to the four hour rule, even on a trader. I trade for the RP, and as such, appreciate that seeing someone you just blew up, trader or otherwise, harms your immersion. I don't want this. However, with regards to the OP, it does seem to be slightly unbalanced in favour of traders/smuggler, but we have to remember, especially with entrances to Gallia, that traders are *can* be completely be shutdown by being locked out of a system if it's a major part of their trade route(s), whereas a fighter can still play elsewhere. However, traders are the life-blood of player interaction (not including wars). They bring the pirates, who bring the law to fight said pirates. And smugglers bring the law, who bring the friendly pirates to fight said law. From a small-picture scale, it's a pain, but from a large-scale picture, it's sensible, as trade and smuggling routes pretty much govern where the majority of other player interaction happens. ' Wrote:It's not a loophole, the fighter attacked the transport on it's own discretion. Your right. It is not a loop hole. but as a Lawful you blow up a smuggler who runs. Then he is back 15-20 minutes later. Your not going to just let him go by a second time again full of contraband. It is a rule that IMO promotes bad RP. If you are caught smuggling, or get pirated. It is just bad RP to go same route again 15 minutes later. The rule allowing it is OORP, and Promotes power trading. Then if the lawful dies? or Pirate they can no longer stop said transport even if they blew it up first few times. It is like the transport can have his pod warped back 5 or more systems, and get a new ship full of cargo in 15 minutes, but a snub pilot for example takes 4 hours? Seriously? A little querk on 4hour rule. - Jack_Henderson - 04-12-2012 If you are killed by a transport, you deserve to be locked out for 4 hours.
