Speech To Text - me_b_kevin - 04-28-2008 i've not tried these yet since i'm still at work but i found this http://www.speechtechnology.com/freenks.html hopefully you guys can find the best one for us to use Speech To Text - kingvaillant - 04-28-2008 could be pretty usefull when you are fighting or going to fight a pirate... or vice versa Speech To Text - Boss - 04-28-2008 I agree. Instead of having to move your fingers to the ASDF and then watching the keyboard (myself, anyways), just press Enter and talk. Much better. Would save a lot of trouble with ooRP smugglers too, I think. Speech To Text - Dusty Lens - 04-28-2008 *grins* In the meantime can I use it for flying? "UP!" = up "Down!" = down "pew pew pew!" = shooters shoot "ZOMG MONSTAR" = erratic dodging followed by self destruction. Automatic post to forums asking who Mon'star is. No admin commented the thread I linked above. Speech To Text - Ximen_Benitez - 04-28-2008 The only speech to text software I have used is the one built into XP. Or maybe it's just my computer has a built in mic so it works.. I don't know if you have tried it yet. It's probably my mic quality, but it seems to not decipher my speech so well. I would advise trying it if you have a NICE quality mic. Also, you have to be in a silent room, because any other noise can throw it off. I'd be interested to know if anybody finds any good free software that can decipher well. Speech To Text - Mars - 04-29-2008 Vista also is suppose to have one built in.. not to shure about it but thats what i was told best i found is "Dragon naturally speaking" but thats a pretty penny. but it works like a charm and comes with a nice mic at least mine did. Edit: actually i just dug out my "Dragon" cd its got more then Text To Speach. itS got commands for surfing the interet and general computer control Speech To Text - Dantrithor - 04-29-2008 A pair of years ago i was looking for some voice control program. Not StT, but to open and manage programs, and found a free one which worked pretty well. Used it to access certain functions in games (found it really useful in a flight simuator) and open programs / manage them. If i find it again, i will post here. Worked very well with little configuration. I also tryed dragon naturally speaking, but found it too much resource-eating for my computer at the time. In fact I'm using it right now to write this and it does work in freelancer just thought I would let you guys know that. Speech To Text - looqas - 04-29-2008 That dragon is pretty steep priced. I remember vaguely reading that Vista has a lot improved speech recognition. I haven't tried it out since in my circumstances (the very similar case like Dreygon has) I'm able to use it only from time to time when the kids and wife are away. I think they are seriously worth a try. |
