toast is sentient. baked in the holy fires of the toaster oven, it's intelligence is directly related to the extent of its carbonisation: really really burnt toast shatters as soon as you apply butter, and it generally gets thrown away in disgust.
once inside the bin, it sits there, stinking out the kitchen, and plotting its revenge. all those innocent toasties buttered and needlessly thrown to their deaths in the name of science must be avenged! HUMANS! Fear my wrath! I will avenge my brothers!
dont get me started on bagels. and crumpets, they're just plain evil; ever noticed that they only drip butter when you are wearing your best clothes and have an important meeting to go to, and you're running late, and you've mysteriously run out of bread even though you could have sworn there was at least two slices left?
