The Angels will indeed help, look at the chatlist to find one if you have questions. Joining a trading faction will help you get on your feet money-wise, and can be helpful for learning.
After that, you should look into finding another faction to join. There is plenty to choose from! Lawful, pirate, somewhere in-between. Find something you like.
