RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Enoch - 10-04-2012 The file hosted on Hotfile seems to have been removed, but stay vigilant. RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Loken - 10-04-2012 I fail to understand how anyone manages to fall for these things. It's not exactly subtle. RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Miaou - 10-04-2012 Well, sorry for all of the messages. I thought my antivirus caught it last night and I guess it didn't. Ran a scan and went to bed. I come back to 100 messages. GO ME! RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Antonio - 10-04-2012 Thanks for the warning. RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Username removed - 10-04-2012 Gee, thanks !! RE: Beware: Malware Through Skype - Miaou - 10-04-2012 Aparently it installed a host link to my computer even though I never ran the exe. Another addition to the removal process. Go to windows/system32/drivers/etc and find the file named "hosts". Open it with notepad, press ctrl+a to select everything and delete the contents. That was the only connection it had to my computer, none of the exe's or anything. Make sure you do a full removal as well, check everything. And sorry again to all of those who got a message from me. RE: BewaMalware Through Skype - NixOlympica - 10-04-2012 I don't want to cause a panic but I have only opened that link on my smartphone skype yet I have found some IPs in the host file on my PC. Any possible explanation? That can happen if you have installed cracked software. If you're in doubt, delete everything inside the file (open with notepad) RE: BewaMalware Through Skype - NixOlympica - 10-04-2012 (10-04-2012, 08:14 PM)Alley Wrote:(10-04-2012, 07:21 PM)Pilgrimage Wrote: I don't want to cause a panic but I have only opened that link on my smartphone skype yet I have found some IPs in the host file on my PC. Done. Found no other traces both manually and through malwarebytes and ESET Smart Security on the PC. So it probably haven't got to me. Thanks anyway.
