I don't think it should be a faction though, as it would be more suited to a small group. Such a group doesn't need active recruitment, the potential to buy systems and other things that Factions are granted.
Yes your right on that I didn't mean it to be a true blue faction but I guess just a small organized group that would be based from a certain station..and ave the same tag. No need they would have for systems and such

Yes..and if a combat jounalist was in the midst of a battle and the lawful side lost ( if tis was a lawful v. unlawful battle)and he was unable to retreat I kinda would expect them to go after him as the ones IRL are sometimes captured and tortured and the like.
I am not super serious about this yet I just thought about it..I didn't know if people had tried it or not..but I guess if it has been"a dozen times" then maybe it could just be tweaked to be more interactive for the journalist so they could gain from it...hmm :tosses it on the drawing board: You may hear more about this later on..

camera ships are invisible, and the players owning them are given full nuetral rep and nuetral ID cards (as far as i'm aware).
Meaning... unless it was an accidental shot, it is sanctionable, as nobody is supposed to fire on nuetral ID'd ships.

They could go on event's place and make some investigation before, during and after event...
(ex : trading event, flying with some traders, pirats or mercs... Battle event, trying to catch members of both factions before the fight...)

Depending on the nature of the company, you could be corrupt, bought over by the government or their opposition, or rigidly neutral, reporting only facts.

I had a brief but pleasant conversation with Lynarra in NY the other day about this. Since she's doing the same thing, it seems there is some interest, and perhaps those interested could pool their ideas and resources.
I know Sir Alisdair would be interested in investing in such a project, not from a Rupert-Murdoch-take-over-the-industry standpoint, but just from the perspective of increased communication about news events (RP-development throughout Sirius). He would definitely be interested in one based in Bretonia.
There could be some opportunities coming out of the current trader event, too.

I see absolutely no harm that could come from this, although since the reputations get adjusted for camera ships it could be a bit annoying for the admins, so it'd probably have to stay relatively small. Which is fine, because I suspect few people would stay interested for long periods of time.
If you go through with it, feel free to stop some of my characters for interviews, especially ALS)Cerulean and [C]Jacob.Orine. Just be careful which questions you ask Blackmoon if you talk to her. :)I'm not interested in joining, but I'll probably end up giving you something to report on...

This is Karl Grogan of the Camera News Flying Bar.
Personally, I'd like to say I like the thrill have *not* having
a neutral ID. It allows me to engage or be engaged and makes
it alot more risky. But with more risk comes more reward (or
punishment if the interviewee takes exception to me).
Hopefully the common sense 'neutrality" of reporters is enough,
and that I can continue to generate more news items without
having a 'superman shield' in the form of a Neutral ID.
As for having a Player faction news service, it does sound interesting.
