Sure, Dragons fought to overthrow the Samura empire, and back then they tolerated Kishiro because they were less of a concern. But now, with the Samura shoved into a corner and Kishiro in the center of power, their goal is in nowhere achieved or anywhere near being so. Dragons never fought Samura based on a grudge or anything (Simply, the Samura-Dragon hostility wasn't like the Corsair-Outcast one), but rather, they fought Samura because of the wellbeing of Kusari - Their house -, and that wellbeing, needless to say, was defined from their own point of view (So the relations were more Xenos-Navy of sort). Now after the shift in government, for that one simple reason stated above, the Dragons have not achieved anything as Kishiro has proved to be a far worst option for being in power than Samura. The house has been weakened and foreigners have been pulling the strings ever since Kishiro managed to push Samura aside, so the Dragons can still fight for the same goal, and also become more aggressive - Using the current chaotic situation in the weakened Kusari for their own advantage. And do remember that InRp, for all the Dragons in Chugoku, it's their whole life. They don't know anything outside of being a Dragon (Most of them at least), so even if one day they do achieve their goal (Which they haven't so far, not even one bit, and that's where you're wrong), you can't expect them to go "Well, ok. This was fun. Let's go spend the rest of our life enjoying drinks in a bar on New Tokyo". Even if they do achieve their goal, they'll come up with a new goal to fight for, because that's what they've been doing for generations - Fighting for something they considered worth fighting for. Having another Gallic-dependent faction is the last thing we'd need in the mod. RE: Is it true the blood dragons wont change at all even in the next mod update? - Croft - 11-16-2012 Perhaps have the Blood Dragons turn on Kishiro and their Gallic puppet masters, perhaps destroying or capturing one of Kishiro's bases in vengeance for their betrayal. If I remember the lore BD are seeking to put their Emperor on the throne surely a sudden shift from ancient tradition of government is more serious than replacing the head of state. It could lead to an uprising and civil war if done properly or if we're being adventurous, a three way struggle if the Exiles make it back to Kusari. This isn't rocket science. They love Kusari, they don't want to see it run by Gallia. Toss an alliance with the Maquis in there while you're at it, would work nicely. Not exactly. That would be a possible angle the Hogosha would have, as they tend to be the ultranationalists in Kusari (along with the AFA). The BD only really have the piracy angle going for them (which works against them), their fighting against the Nomad corruption, to an extent. But they don't have the Samura backed imperial institution in control of Kusari anymore. If anything, the Blood Dragons could now fulfill their revenge by completely taking out the Exiles and the last remnants of the imperial line. But that'd mean the end of two factions... This part of the BD faction infocard describes the faction's modus operandi - and was my reasoning for thinking their goals largely met: Quote:The history of the Blood Dragons goes back to the fourth century. The founding members of the group were the Shogun’s Royal Guard during the Hideyoshi family dynasty. In a bloody coup during the celebration of the revived Sakura festival in 321 AS, the Shogun was surrounded in the palace by Samura-backed elements of the military and asked to surrender, along with the Royal Guard. The Shogun, humiliated by the shame he had brought his family, committed suicide. The guards, headed by Kozue Okamura, did not acquiesce so easily. In a bloody battle, they fought their way out of the palace and retreated into the darkness of northern Kusari space. Here they regrouped and began a long guerrilla campaign aimed at overthrowing the Samura-controlled Kusari government.Samura-controlled Kusari government overthrown. Now what? RE: Is it true the blood dragons wont change at all even in the next mod update? - Govedo13 - 11-16-2012 Killing some factions could be actually good thing.I would kill the GC not the dragons however, GC is something now so useful in the mod. Give them something- Rishiri or other system- make them attacking the Government trying to put their Shogun in Power. Remove one of the useless mining fields from the useless deseted systems(Alberta/Humbolt even Cambridge does not need mining) around Sirius and swap it right in the middle of the contested dragon system. Be nice troll and give Samura mining bonus there. If the Dev team does not create hotspots where the factions have something worthy to clash the playernumbers would continue to go down. Sirius could be very nice place with 5-6 hotspots instead of 20 sandbox not worth to Log conflicts. Good example for this were/are Gamma/NY rides. Why the players does not kill each other in O5/47/Bering&Huston but they ride the capital systems? It is simple- because the motivation that other side could loose something there. Give reasons to fight in specific spots. Now what? It may not be there, but it could easily change. With the form of the new government, Samura could come back into power via popular vote (with Kyushu being so populous). I'd think the Dragons would want to ensure the government is such that this scenario could not happen. RE: Is it true the blood dragons wont change at all even in the next mod update? - Omicron - 11-16-2012 From what I am aware, BD's primary target is to first remove corporate influence from government - that will include Kishiro now. But as any other faction to be interesting, it needs dev's attention. RE: Is it true the blood dragons wont change at all even in the next mod update? - Ryummel - 11-16-2012 I'm not sure why you lot talk about going against Kishiro as if it was something new. Since the .86 version was implemented, Dragons had refused government's and by extension Kishiro's offer to cease fighting, thus throwing the KNF against them as it's been happening ever since this mod was out, ye? Pretty much what AD said, though it has to be said that Dragons' main appeal isn't pirating (GC and AFA there, hello), so no new bases are going to fix the situation either. RE: Is it true the blood dragons wont change at all even in the next mod update? - AeternusDoleo - 11-16-2012 Then what is the purpose of the Blood Dragons in the mod. Disregarding lore for a second, Ryummel, you paint the BD as a faction that have one purpose only: Pewing KNF and KSP. Since those factions have only a marginal membership due to the fact that Kusari doesn't have a house-versus-house conflict, BDs themselves would suffer from a lack of activity. My main point as a dev when working on a faction is "how can I make this faction be enjoyable to be played for a (group of) players"? How can we do that for the Blood Dragons? |
