Gallic capmissions. You can sometimes get a total payout of 10-15 million for a mission that takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
Doesn't fully compare to mining or organized jump trading profit-wise, but doing missions is so very convenient and you don't have to rely on other players.

mining is only good for a short mineing session. If you plan to do it for a couple of hours, do trading instead. First mining gets really boring, second after a while the ore field becomes depleted and you get less ore taking you longer to mine.
Although here is a good route to mine, you make 9.2k (something like that) per rock.
Mine in Pennsylvania silver ore, then take it to California Minor to sell. 5k transport can make 45 Mill in 20 mins (there abouts)
For miners trying to make money, it isnt that good because it takes a while to mine, were as if you are a trader you can let the miner mine and you could get one with something else like work
if you are going to become a silver ore miner, get a dse ID+IFF and an Arrastra ship, brought from the freeport in Magellan you will have the best bonuses and yield ore quicker for the trader

2 friends or more - mining
4-5 friends - trading convoy (piracy immunity)
