Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Jinx - 06-09-2008 i think it would allready help if there were links to the factions "rules" in the official rules. - as they are as important as the official rules anyway - but they do not need to be listed in the official rules cause it would become too much and confusing ( not to mention utterly overwhelming ). but if they are linked in the official rules, a player interested in them could still click on the faction link he is interested in and leave those factions he doesn t really want to know about. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Treewyrm - 06-09-2008 Freedom of one ends where freedom of others begin. But as territories of freedoms overlap clashes are bound to happen and conflicts arise. That's how it goes, and this place is no different to any other, we are still the same. Rules may not cover all situations but neither they need to. Can a person buy a capital ship? - Yes. Can a person bought capital ship roleplay? - Yes. Can a person bought capital ship being declared rogue utilizing roleplay? - Yes. Say a person gets declared rogue by faction(s) out there. He may not like it, fine, but why should say a faction sit and enjoy him doing whatever he desires? There are two sides of the coin. Actions and consequences. So comes responsibility. It isn't automatically coming in package with ship, be it fighter or battleship, doesn't matter. Is it much to ask for responsibility these days? Roleplay will always be arbitrary due to it's complexity and nature. Rules cover game mechanics for most of the part which are program logic and not question of interpretations. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Praetyre - 06-09-2008 I think such laws would best be listed in the two existing threads for House laws, or in the faction status posts (or links to them, perhaps a direct link to the Rheinland Law page in the RM's case) Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - El Nino - 06-09-2008 Da flames are marching in... Sure, Each system owning faction should own capital ships produced there... fighters could be free for all, capital ships should be OWNED... Becouse there would be no need to control capital ships with high pricess, these could drop. Factions would act as "military police" over their faction's ships, should there be an Indie flying their ship without premission they would treat it that way.... I suppose things are like that right now. Just not there yet... the rules state that system owning faction makes the rules for that system... So if someone steals your battleship you are allowed to whank them... This is not as much an rule Issue as it is a Faction Issue... Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Praetyre - 06-09-2008 I agree. I admit, it gets thornier once the admins step in on the issue (such as Korrds statement of requiring factional permission for roleplaying a BS-user). Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Reverend Del - 06-09-2008 I think what is needed is esentially a table of contents for the forums, with links to server rules, faction rules, the Faction Status, and Quick reference pages. Also a quick guide to which factions have restrictions and bans on their ships and who to ask if you want one. It can also include links to the various House laws and have fairly up to date data on newer laws that may not yet have been codified, such as Liberty's embargo on Rheinland trade, and Rheinland's interdiction of all Liberty based corporations. Now I can knock all this up, In fact I'd be happy to, not much else to do today. All in favour? Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Athenian - 06-09-2008 Aye. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Laowai - 06-09-2008 I agree with Jinx - and as an Indie "capwhore" i've had a bad feeling about these faction enforced embargo's that are not in the rules. If it is now rules that server factions can control who buys what in terms on capships then this needs to be listed in black and white in the official server rules in idiot-proof print so that this issue can be put to bed. All we have on this issue is some posts by a couple of admins in threads that a new player will never find. This also opens another question - can a single admin just add a rule in a thread that is not in the official server rules and then have those rules be considered "official" and binding? If so, fair enough.... But according to server rules, strictly speaking, a faction member who opens fire on an "indie" of the same faction is sanctionable... thats what a new guy to the server is going to think. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Praetyre - 06-09-2008 These rules are not server rules any more than cardamine smuggling is a sanctionable offense. They are in-universe laws, enforced by characters. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - MrCynical - 06-09-2008 Essentially if an independent capship is being RP'd properly in a role which is appropriate to the ship (e.g. Rheinland Cruiser being RP'd properly as a Rheinland fleet vessel) then in my opinion factions have no business attacking the person (this coming from someone whose only capship is a faction gunboat by the way). If you get attacked OORP then just take screenshots and report - if the admins want to enforce rules different from what is in the Server Rules thread, that's up to them (their server), but you should still report violations of the official rules until such time as they're changed. |
