And WHY is it ''Liberty'' ?

It is so easy just pointing your finger at the screenshot and 'Yeah, well that is Liberty. It always sucks.'

You do realize that it is a BAD thing, right? That the syndrome called "Liberty" is the result of the same problem we see? If people stop giving a shait, of course it is going to be ''Liberty''. And soon the whole server is going to be more of a ''Liberty'' than it already is.

It is the only house with people in it so people see more stupidity and think that's the reason.

Outch- that vid sure doesn't put a bright light on the involvees - my 2 ct: It might be thatLiberty is in fact "sick" of newbies as in "they get so many all the time they ca't be bothered anymore" -it does cost time to explain stuff and it does take patience, especially if you are a Liberty "resident".

There was the idea some months ago to shuffle the first spawn point among the houses, like 1 month it is libby 1 it is Kusari and so on - that in fact might help to release some strain off the old salts of libby? And possibly as the new players get used to what they see first this might have a nice repopulating side effect, too.

So...wake up call to help "educating" the future of disco ? Should be worth it!

I really doubt that shuffling the spawnpoint might help. Discovery often is not the first introduction to Freelancer, and since most players come from different servers, they will still hang around New York.

Well then, people should stop complaining about the overall lack of RP on the server. If the players in Liberty are too ''sick'' of newbies and ignore them, they must face the consequences and not complain about it when the rhinos with two IDs or wrong IFFs turn into platnetform IDed corsair legates.

its also because of the players you see in gb's were newbies two weeks ago and now finally have a ship they feel comfortable enough to engage other newbies in. i sometimes get the feeling that a lot of the players in liberty are the silent trader folk / the ones that cannot handle giving up 2 million pixel credits out of the 100's of millions they've made. There's a strong "red is dead" mentality amongst Liberty lawfuls.

the mantra of "it's Liberty, it's just how it is" has become self-fulfilling - people accept it, and even seasoned players seem to lower their own standards whenever they log on a Liberty ship or are in Liberty on their characters.

Well, it is easy for me to point at "Liberty" and say that the players there are lazy -as a Corsair i get to run into newbies 2 times a month and then i simply don't care to take my time and explain stuff for 30 min or more for each.

But if i had 3+ newbies a day they would simply eat up my "playing time" and i think that might be the case with players who would be very helpful normally, too - so you might pm "//dude, rule error here and there, bye" or simply hope that someone else takes a heart.
So i am not defending people who ignore newbies for whatever reason, newbies do need to feel welcome and integrated but i think it will be very very hard to change anything as there is quite some unfriendlyness and sub-communityism around ...aka "hatery and unfriendlyness is too cool to not do it"for too many players and as long as there is no sense of "we all play together for the greater fun for all" i think nothing will change Sad

Edit: +1 to what Anaximander said

Well, this is often the same attitude I observe on myself - Everytime I see a 'lolwut' in a Liberty dreadnought, I think to myself "If a player has spent so much time on the server collecting all the cash and still doesn't understand the concept of RP, it's probably a lost case", and without considering that perhaps they're still like that because nobody has ever explained it to them. I guess I'll try to be more helpful on my part from now on.

Good morning Sirs,

Iam a newbie in game, still having problems with all the rules, but let me tell you one thing.

I started playing MP in january when i was on sickleave from 8-13.01.13.

Ive played like 12h per day.

During that time i didnt see any (zero none) players taged as Angel.......

First one i saw was yesterday.....

One more thing: Where are the newbie tutorials? Find only one by Xeria (btw the link is broken now....)

Regards
Fader

Thank you for bringing the issue back into awareness. I'll try to watch out more for obvious newbies again.
