Rumors..no.Where whould we be without the rumors?...thats what gives the drive to explore.But..just cause I have heard rumors about "things" at area51 dosen't mean that I am gonna try my luck against the military guards there!...that would be just plain stupid...there orders are to intercept any possible tresspassers befor they EVEN get within 15 miles of the area....and if you did somehow manage to get as close as 10 miles...I would NOT want to be that person.......So..alaska is a rumor...and it should be left as such..nothing more and nothing less.

I completely agree there. It's a shame some folk don't seem to RP Zone 21's secrecy and treat it as a mildly secret military base.

Just about Alaska...
If you read the 'libel' on Liberty posted by Rheinland media (found in News on Rheinland bases), Alaska is mentioned. So the name is known at least in rumours and there are also rumours about things happening there. But most people would not go looking for it and nobody (save a suicidal maniac) would go storming Zone-21.

I'd call developer error on that one, frankly. In any case, it could very well be a coincidence, with Rheinland picking an ancient American name for a random secret base to demonise Liberty on.

the rheinland military knew about alaska via their part in the nomad war.
If rheinland and liberty are really on the brink of war like everyone says, what would stop the rheinland military from leaking that info to the media to make liberty look like the sinister 'bad guy'?

I don't recall the RM or infested RM being in Alaska during SP.. could be wrong, though.

I think Chancellor Niemann himself was killed in Alaska. But I won't guess whether this means current Rheinland knows or not.

According to the RP story that we've developed for Tau-45, it's not known to the public, or even the government at large.
One of Liberty's corporations knows about it, but they're keeping it secret at the highest levels to avoid embarrassment and loss of investor confidence due to their losses there.
As for anyone else, they shouldn't know it's there, as nobody has ever survived an uninvited visit.
