3) Assault missions are to be conducted against Corsair targets with the following rules of engagement.
3a) There are no rules, only guidelines to ensure victory.
3b) Find the enemy when he is alone.
3c) Find him when he is weak.
3d) Scout your enemy, hail traders and other friendly ships to assess the enemies' strength. Failing this send in a single fighter provide visual confirmation.
3e) The Gas Pockets are a weapon*
3f) The Nebula is your cloak. You can gain surprise if the enemy is distracted.
3g) If the enemy is strong, do not engage unless you can guarantee at least one kill before withdrawal. Get in, kill what you can, then retreat*
3h) Remember we are not honourably suicidal Kusari - if the odds are overwhelming then do as the GMG have always done - retreat and let the storm pass*
3i) There are no rules, only guidelines to victory.
*//On an ooRP note. If you Cruise away you are considered fleeing and the battle is over. If the enemy pursues and re-engages, then the battle is not over and you may continue the fight.

During operations yesterday in Sigma-13, an incoming transmission from a Machine Intelligence (Harvester Class) was received.
I gained the impression (amid the static and quantitising noise) included in the message was a kind of 'tribute' for our continued non-aggression.
To be sure, soon after an explosion was detected on C deck of the Discombobulator. Engineering reported that two Type II repair robots experienced power cell failure. Clean up crews were subject to another two of our bots what had gone completely berserk!
I immediately thought of a treacherous hacking attempt by the Harvester, but then imagery from C Deck showed another eight bots had corralled the berserk units and enabled my crew to deactivate them.
I have since had our 'friendly' bots shipped to a location I will not disclose on the open channel, but by all accounts they possess a limited self-awareness.
As a quarantine measure they should not be allowed on board any military vessel or station. Instead I think they will serve us well as the new autopilots on some of our older Gas Miners.
Should crew of these Miners need to eject, the Miner ships can now pilot themselves home - avoiding obstacles and even taking evasive maneuvers if needed (self-preservation being one of the key elements of self-awareness).
I believe that this is the best way to handle this 'gift' from our new neighbours. We can accept it with good grace, without allowing it to be a Trojan Horse.

Patrols are hereby to investigate all ships identified as a pirate. Any ship not authorized as a associate of the Gas Miners Guild are to either be escorted our the system, or allowed to pay a fine. Heavier patrols will be authorized into the Sigma-13 mining operations. The department of security are to engage with Corsair identified vessel located in the system, and to escort any Corsair friendly ship out of the mining zone. Also patrols are to often investigate traffic located in the Yanagi Nebula which contains the Junker Depot Yanagi.

As you all know even a slight donation to the guild bank is very helpful towards preparing newcomers on their guild journey, and also prepare security officer ships for their duties. Recently the guild bank has been critical, yes 40 million credits is very critical since we spend 20 million per individual not including spending on current members. Its time to begin shipping more fuel and plutonium into the omegas once again. The Economic Department should be contacting all of you on your shipments.
At this time I would like to announce the promotions for this month. If the senior officer of security or economic wishes to object feel free to respond:

1. Ikaro Tamagotchi has been accepted into the clan and given the title of "Guild Member". We hope your stay in the guild will be acceptable in both credits and experience.
Security Department
1. Lieutenant Will Rogers has been promoted to the rank of Captain. He now has the right to be issued a Taiiden Bomber has his request.
2. Captain Everett Edwards has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He now has the right to be issued a Talon fighter from our IMG allies. Remember, the Talon is for deep strike missions and very heavy patrols only. Very heavy patrols consist of either a gunboat, cruiser, or battleship.
3. Colonel Bob Whippet is already in command of his very own cruiser which now requires a rank higher than his own. Seeing as this conflict in rank and authority has been brought to my attention by myself. Mister Whippet our head of security and operations has been promoted to the rank of Commander. Whenever you get tired of that old Zoner destroyer the Independent Miners Guild has a defender ready and waiting.

Looking at the specifications of the Capital Class ships available to us.
I shall test out both the Albatross and the Talarca Cruisers.
I see strengths and weaknesses of the two ships as follows:
Albatross
+ Increased firepower against capital ships - particularly gunboats which pose the greatest threat to our fighters and bombers.
- Decreased capability in asteroid fields. This would reduce its ability to escort ships to omega-49.
- A larger vessel might be seen as an escalation of the 'arms race' in Sigma (ooRP for the GMG).
Talarca
+ Increased maneuverability and good firing angles would prove an advantage in asteroid fields and near our gas miners.
+ Still has enough firepower to support our fighters and bombers.
+ The Talarca is 'light' enough for the GMG to commission more of these ships if needed - with a lesser perceived risk of escalating the 'arms race'.
- Does not have enough firepower to operate alone against packs of pirates.

The Albatross flying under the command of the Gas Miners Guild is a symbol of friendship between itself as the Independent Miners Guild. This Talacra is made completely by an unworthy company of doing business with. We take the ships given to us from our allies before given to us by complete strangers. It may be slow but its purpose is to act as a command ship in space, and to give aid against other capital ships that may be a threat to the security of the guild. Our rise to arms is no simple matter as switching ship to ship which keep in mind the Talacra does not go in uniform with any other ship. Our fleet lays on the shoulders of our allies, and without our allies we will fall short of rivaling our enemies
