Nomads, phantoms, and das wilde all have the ability to attack and kill on sight nearly anyone they want. They also have access to some fairly powerful weaponry and ships.
That's why you have to prove yourself. Look at all the pvp whores on this server, all the bounty hunters out there in battleships who've got no clue how to RP and only play that character to easily shoot anyone they feel like shooting. Now imagine them flying around in nomad battleships, going "lolwut, u r pwned nub" every time they see someone.
Playing a nomad is about RP, not pvp.

And right now I'm rp'ing an independent nomad trying to prove myself to the keepers, the basic gist of it is that 15 years ago when the order 'won' the war, so many nomads were killed at once at the dyson sphere that it caused neural overloads in some of the younger and weaker nomads (like mine), sending them into a prolonged 'blackout' and severing their connection to the mind share.
Now, he's slowly regaining that, slowly healing to try and rejoin his people.

If everyone could be a nomad almost everyone would be. Witch would mean lack of RPers in other fractions not making this server not very much...exciting as nobody would be doing anything, but nomad..nomad...nomad.
2. We don't want a bunch of pvp whores wondering around anywhere In nomad battleships from omicron unkown across to bretonia space killing everything they see yelling. "PWNED JOOR ALL NUBS I L33T!!111!!1!"
May be some other reasons I haven't thinked up on yet, but oh well.
I'm not sure about my Nomad Immunity. I'm thinking he might be one of the nomads who went crazy after the dyson sphere was destroyed, and he would completely everything he knew, and every now, and then his memory would be comming back to him.
