Short answer, yes. RE: I was under the impression that..... - GTB - 06-06-2013 How do they even get away with altering INI files to cheat ship stats. I would have thought all INI files are checked clent end to see if hash code matches same INI used by server RE: I was under the impression that..... - Epic Miner - 06-06-2013 (06-06-2013, 03:17 PM)GTB Wrote: How do they even get away with altering INI files to cheat ship stats. I would have thought all INI files are checked clent end to see if hash code matches same INI used by server I personally am not aware of the exact practice of cheating on Freelancer, neither have I tried, so I'm just basing anything I say on someone who does have experience with it and explained it to me. But it's a general rule that everything can be bypassed, if you put your mind to it. Tricking the anti-cheat into believing the hash matches would be possible in some way, for example. RE: I was under the impression that..... - GTB - 06-06-2013 Hmm, not really. A file is given a long HASH number and if the file is changed in anyway, that hash number changes, even if you only change one digit. But I'm not sure if that can work with Freelancer, when I used vBulletin forum software that uses hash checking on some files to see if any forum files have been hacked. RE: I was under the impression that..... - SeaFalcon - 06-06-2013 "It is a good idea to share how cheats exactly work so that it is common knowledge and everyone can use them : ))" could just stop asking about how cheats work and carry on, be glad some got caught. Internet protection is always is always one or more steps behind the offensive ones on the internet. RE: I was under the impression that..... - Black Widow - 06-06-2013 That looks like a sucky little cheat noobies would use coz they suka$$ at PVP!!!! Admin good job banning all these noobs I say RE: I was under the impression that..... - GTB - 06-06-2013 Exactly, Freelancer cheats are people who are crap at PVP, so feel they have to cheat to get a name for themselves as being good. When they get caught though, all it does is prove they was rubbish all along using cheating methods to win. I agree, it's good to see the recent mass catching and highlighting of cheaters. I won't mention the name, but saw one that had a name for being a good PVP'er listed in the sanction forum. Clear now that person wasn't good all along, now named and shamed. RE: I was under the impression that..... - sindroms - 06-06-2013 I also do not get this. I am crap at PVP and I just take it out on transports... Then excuse my obliviousness about hash codes. Regardless, the point remains that there always will be another way to bypass the anti-cheat's security checks, no matter how elaborate. It just takes a lot of time, effort and skill, most of the time. RE: I was under the impression that..... - GTB - 06-06-2013 Obviously, people are doing it and getting caught
