Pirate can't kill the transport if it fallowed the damand. Yet it says nothing about hurting it without any demand. So as long as you haven't been destroyed afterwards it's all fine. The rule you posted only implies that pirate should roleplay before the attack. Which has been done, obviuosly, from what you've said.

For corsairs to assualt other pirates who mess around in their hunting grounds is lorewise correct thing to do.

I believe it's a poor form of RP to hide behind Falster Station without firing on it (thus being neutral) and forcing the other party which is chasing you to make the mistake to accidentally hit the base thus making it red and turning it's 5 turrets against him.
