Michael walked into the bar. He had heard that this place catered to Naval personnel, so he decided to try it out, even if it did have a reputation as a odd place. Looking around, he noticed a few familiar faces, then noticed Valentine sitting at a table by herself. Deciding to join her, he walked up to the bar.
"I'll have a beer, whatever you have on tap." The bartender got him his beer. "Thanks." he said quickly, walking over to Valentine's table and sitting next to her.
"So Zoe, anything interesting happen lately?" he asked the young woman, before he took a sip of his beer.

Zoe noticed Michael enter the bar and sit next to her. She gave a friendly gesture.
"Hey Morse" "Nah, not much has happened recently" She said, taking a large sip of her beer.
She turned and looked at Michael "How about you? My life hasn't really had anything interesting to talk about thus far"

"Nothing really important for me, no." he told her, "Though I did recently find out that my sister is pregnant."
"Beyond that, nothing new with me at all." Michael says, taking another sip of his beer. "This place is quieter than I thought it would be."
Michael starts fiddling with a ring on his right ring finger before looking back up at Zoe.

"Ah, Samantha is pregnant! How wonderful!" Zoe said with a smile.
Seeing as it was a joyous occasion, Zoe decided to follow up with a joke "That means you'll be an uncle soon then, but teach your nephew not to hook up with random Agents from Rheinland, ok?". She laughed.
She also noticed how Michael was playing with a ring on his finger.

"Yeah, I'm really happy for her, she's gonna make a good mom." he said. "Hopefully by the time he's of age to be hooking up with anyone, it won't matter if they're from Rheinland, or anywhere else in Sirius."
Noticing Zoe look at his hand, Michael quickly clenched his hand into a fist. "My son, the one I had with Caroline, he would've turned nine a few weeks ago." he said bitterly, taking a large swig of his beer.

Zoe felt uncomfortable, she fully knew the situation Michael was describing; the worst day of his life thus far. "L-l-look Morse" She stuttered uncomfortably "I'm sorry, about what happened...".
She wanted to try and change the topic as quickly as possible.
"Hey, how about a drinking contest?" She said before she held up her beer.

"I bet you'll lose it before I do" Zoe said to him, before she swings her drink back, quickly downing the pint.

"Zoe, you're my friend, but there is no way I'm gonna go easy on you." Michael said to her, chugging another beer and slamming it down on the table.
"Bartender, keep them coming." he shouted, drawing some attention from the rest of the room.

"You heard the man! I want more beer! Hell, I want TWO beers!" Zoe said loudly, turning the heads of nearby patrons. The bartender came over and slammed down two beers in front of Zoe. She picked up both of them and tipped back and downed them both, the beer falling onto and soiling her clothes.
