Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - bluntpencil2001 - 06-11-2008 The Admiral of the defence fleet does have a right to know. I am pretty sure that in the Royal Navy, for instance, given a few minutes, anyone with any rank worth mentioning could list every ship of size that they have on the sea quite easily. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Eppy - 06-11-2008 Quote:Admiral of the 101st defence fleet does not need to know. Correction: Commander of the only facility capable of prodcuing the Outcast Destroyer, Battleship, and Dreadnought, in Sirius. I'm fairly well inclined to declare myself His Supreme Uberness of All Outcastdom at this point, just so I can invoke unilateral powers, but I think I'll hold off for now because I actually have some respect for people who try to form new Outcast factions and play by the local rules... Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Dennis Jameson - 06-11-2008 You've got my vote. :-P I don't know why some people feel the need to bitch and whine about this. Regristration makes sense in a RP perspective, so why fight it? Just accept it and post a small story about your ship instead of trolling up thread, after thread, after thread, after thread... Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Athenian - 06-11-2008 *wanders into thread* *notices it's quite warm* A few points. 1. the indy/faction division is, imho, not a black and white one. many people can be, and are, both. 2. i'm sure people have MUCH better things to do with their time than try to "control" a little patch of virtual space. this is a game. 3. a rule is only as effective as its policing - meaning: by all means, don't go along with faction requirements - they are after all not server requirements - but some factions will react differently to others, and some will be more demanding than others and some will obviously generate more hatred because of their stance than others; but that is the price of being organised. If you think you can get around being policed by a particular faction, try your luck. Why not RP it? 4. it's not so much "might is right" as "united we stand" - if I learned ANYTHING in my time on the planet it is that. 5. if the purpose of this thread is to create some positive move with this and generate compromise then at least recognise what steps people are doing to resolve it. The Benitez indicated they would want to consult with indy capships and opted out of the Corsair "decree" (if you want to call it that) for now. 6. I find the idea that factions are acting in concert to control the server in a 1984 type manner ridiculous. I can see that no one wants a rigidly controlled server, and the fact that the RP server is open says heaps about the philosophy behind Disco. By all means people are free to go to, say the US Feeworlds Server, where you HAVE to join a faction, and the server gets locked for events. I would HATE to see Disco go this way and I would fight tooth and nail against it and i hope, so would the factions becasue it would kill the server. 7. i wish i wish oh i wish capital BH ships were restricted in game (not in rules, i said, in game) but no one can manage the Guild as much as the various splinter groups may try. So we are left with embarassing incidents like the numerous attacks on zoners recently and some guys shooting up lawfuls in Liberty. Its poor form and VERY poor RP - plus its costing me money; we believe that a man should always be given a fighting chance. Cruisers hunting fighters is making them all just run away. 8. If the server does become a police state, storm the barricades, boycott them, take them apart. But you better have a few friends with you. Well I doubt that every rank worth mentioning could but sorry the post was not meant to be construed that way. Typed incorrectly. When I can figure out what I mean to type I'll go and edit. I'll just rub out the planet we call Malta then. This has been gone through before. ' Wrote:I think I'll hold off for now because I actually have some respect for people who try to form new Outcast factions and play by the local rules... ?-I hope you know why this is here. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Exsiled_one - 06-11-2008 I think this here isn't bitch and moan about anything. Its 20 pages of three people defending their ideals. Who here could live with three non registered capital ships that don't do dumb things anyway, and focus on people that do? Raise your hands Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - bluntpencil2001 - 06-11-2008 Ignoring one would set a precedent. If a faction sets laws, they should generally apply to everyone equally. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Jihadjoe - 06-11-2008 ' Wrote:I'm sorry. Where did you get this 90% figure from? As an Outcast I can say that a very very high percentage of outcasts regard the Outcast factions as the law in Outcast space and that they have a form of governance over the other Outcasts. ' Wrote:In fact this policy has damaged beyond repair my QCO rp, and left a BS and two fighter in the position of protecting Bretonia despite the queen rather than for the queen. Ok... So, can we see you RP for your ship (whatever it may well be). I would be interested in reading it. I want to know how having an outcast capitol ship affects the QCO... ' Wrote:Anyway, factions are there to control factions. They are not there to bully indies who could give a rats behind about the faction. I personally find this rather tellin. You personally couldn't give a rats arse about a group of people who are trying to play the game, and you want to be able to just do what you want when you want. That kinda stinks of self importance and a lack of respect for the other individuals behind the factions. You, with this statement, have shown youself willing to step on a whole group of other people's roleplay for your own roleplay gain.... Not cool Akumabito, not cool at all. Do you fly fighters Akumabito? 'Cos if so, have you ever been in the position where you have been ganked by capships who then say "We won!" afterwards as if its some kind of achievement. I have experienced this at the hands of Outcast capships before we started registering them in the New York system. I have had a lvl 5 starflier of mine blown up by one. I have, as I've said before, been blown up in my rather well known (amoungst the outcasts at any rate) cardi smuggler while sitting outside malta by an outcast battleship that was before we started registering... Infact that was one of the things that prompted this measure. Just try standing in the Outcast faction's shoes for a while here dude, and you might see things from a different perpective. May I also point out that Mr Epyon here is a notorious capwhore. So its not an anti cap ships thing. Nor is it an anti indies thing. It is, *said with frustration at not being listened to* a anti oorp thing. Nor is it( for me at least) about pushing indies about. I was an indy Outcast once, and I have numerous independant charas. and each of those accepts that the player faction has authoriy over my character. For instance when I was flying my indy Xeno I took orders from the Sons of Liberty and the XA, simply becuase they were better organised. Akumabito, this is the crux of the matter. Your own personal will is not more important than anyone elses. Infact a group of people have precedence over any individual's will. Very simple concept. Please just live with that and stop trying to stamp your ego all over everything you do and subjugate whole groups of people to your own wish to have it your own way. Thats not a nice thing to do in any circle and I'm sure in real life you wouldn't... Its very easy to Just see names on a forum and characters in game and forget that there are people behind them... Have some respect, as through that you will earn the respect of others yourself. That is as true for life as it is here. Learn humility, it has served me just fine. EDIT: @ n00blet. The reason we require all people to register their capships (aside form the precedent and fairness) is because, as I have said earlier, what armed force wouldn't know how many aeroplanes, tanks or warships it had? The Maltese Navy is not privately owned. It is organised rather than being a rabble... We are just trying to get organised with knowing what we have and where. Another shipyard the Outcast destroyer is sold at is a molly one and as it's joint Outcast/Liberty Rouge ship it makes more sense for it to be built at a location between the two so they can both have input. Just my thoughts. Ending the Capship Issue(and more) - Eppy - 06-11-2008 The Outcast Destroyer is constructed at Corsica. The Shipyards in Londonderry should not be producing that vessel, and it should be removed next version. Malta is not capable of launching capital ships (other than Gunboats) into planetary orbit. There is no way something that large could survive the stress of launch and re-entry. |
