It's all about setting a precedence. The same reason that playing any type of alien aside from a Nomad is a big no-no.
There is one problem with that statement.
The alien background you bring was the effect, not reason, of the 2016 situation in which Admins decided to slap people doing that sort of roleplay (I don't recall more than two or three). The initial idea @SMI-Great.Fox set in motion back in 2009, as described on Wiki as legacy content, was that characters were genetically altered humans - not even alien tech had been involved into that. The background altering happened as suggestion by one of the Staff members back then.
