Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Charcoal - 05-25-2012 ![]() Amanda Willis immediatly looked back down at the drink in his hand. Of all the people that could possibly see me here Willis sculled down the remainder of his drink. The whisky burn down his throat was well hidden behined the alcoholics poker face. Willis coulddn't help but notice Amanda, mainly because of the number of times their work tasks had overlaped, from repair works at Baltimore shipyard, to the mining fields of the outer Humboldt system. A friendly face, someone he could relate to. Willis looked back across the bar and gave the bartender a nod, which resulted in his glass getting filled back to its previous level. he began to nurse the drink in his left hand, whilst his right hand scratched the back of his neck. He then looked back at Amanda. By this time Amanda had sat down at the bar, just out of earshot from Willis. She was alone. Willis drew a deep breath, stood up and walked across to her side of the bar. "Mind if I join you?" Willis asked rather sheepishly. Amanda was intelligent, that much was obvious and Willis knew her to be a very capable engineer, good at her job. But there was something about Amanda that sparked Willis' interest beyond a prefessional level. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Lennox - 05-25-2012 Still smiling to himself a bit, Johnson noticed the Armanda walking into the bar and gave her a brief nod as she noticed him for a moment. He sighed to himself and let the PDA disappear in the jacket of his Navy uniform he was still wearing. As he emptied his water, he ordered another one, not in the mood to drink alcohol all alone. As the new glass of water arrived infront of him on the counter, he nodded at the barkeeper, who was seemingly frowning at him about the order "water". Johnson didn't pay much attention to the barkeeper and took a swing from his drink. That was when he noticed a guy walking up to the girl, he nodded at before. Then, for some reason, shaking his head, he rubbed his forehead, thinking about something as he saw that. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Widow - 05-26-2012 Amanda watched the guy drinking water put his PDA away, and glanced up when Willis spoke "Mind if I join you?". She shrugged and nodded "Yeah, go for it. It's never fun drinking alone in here" with that she nodded in the direction of the guy as he ordered another water, this time she noticed the navy uniform 'Ah, that explains it' she thought and shook her head. As much respect as she had for them, she still didn't understand why they left their families behind. Perhaps her father was to blame for that. Looking up at Willis, she bit her lip "I have some plans I want you to look over at some point" with that she pointed at the table where a dirty notebook and pen was laying, it was filled with half finished ideas and failures but she never stopped making plans. That was her second problem - always the optimist, no matter the situation. "Just need some outside advise on it. Just can't seem to get it efficient enough to even bother trying to show anyone the idea... Well, at the moment anyway." She grinned, and took another sip of her drink. Amanda noticed how dirty she actually was and made a mental note to clean up a bit next time. She always ran into people when she was in a mess. At least they knew who she was - an engineer - and not some prissy rich kid like most of the guys around here seem to like to think. "Anyway, take a seat, you make the place look untidy" She laughed and glanced over in the general direction of the navy guy again. "Must have been a hard day, on the strong stuff, should see if he wants company.... Looks lonely." 'Hmm, I'll have to get another drink soon' hers was almost empty. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Charcoal - 05-26-2012 ![]() Willis stared down at the notepad in the center of the table, and turned the bottom end around to face him. Numbers, calculations, crudly drawn graphs. I think I might need a Rosetta Stone to understand this gibberish, Willis thought to himself. "Just need some outside advise on it. Just can't seem to get it efficient enough to even bother trying to show anyone the idea... Well, at the moment anyway." Willis continued staring at the notepad, now oblivious to the environment around him. Amongst the scrawl, half finished equations and unlabelled diagrams, Willis' eyes met a sketch of what appeared to be some kind of experimental generator. "Anyway, take a seat, you make the place look untidy" Willis smirked, then realized he was still standing whilst reading the notepad, and promptly sat down. "Right, well lets see what we have here," Willis began pouring over the sketch at the bottom of the notepad. There was nothing wrong with her calculations, but perhapse the design itself? He looked up to find Amanda glancing across the bar, looking towards a navy officer. He took the pen from the center of the table and began making his own sketch in the corner of the notepad. Willis liked to keep ideas simple, basic. It meant that fewer things could go wrong, but also made his designs more reliable and usually cheaper to manufacture.Willis quickly finnished his sketch then glanced back up at Amanda. Her drink was almost empty. "Why don't I let you have a look at this, and I'll go get you another drink," Willis cracked a smile, handed the notepad and pen back to Amanda then walked back towards the bar. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Lennox - 05-26-2012 He realized the girl glancing at him more than once. He looked at the liquid in his glass and slightly shook his head. He then lifted his glass as he looked at her, giving a slight smile. He would take another sip as soon as she would lift hers as well. 'Hmm...someone who seems to know about ships mechanics and systems...probably engineer...' He thought as he saw the remains of grease and oil. '...would explain that kind of dirt...and attitude..?' He asked himself in his thoughts while still looking at her. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Widow - 05-27-2012 "Right, well lets see what we have here," She nodded and watched Willis as he went through her notes, 'I hope its actually semi-understandable this time' she thought before noticing he was drawing something in the corner of one of the pages. Amanda glanced up and noticed the navy officer raise his glass and smile slightly, she raised her glass and took a drink before smiling and signalling him to come over and take a seat with them. She looked back down at the notebook before looking over at the navy officer again to see if he had come to a decision as to whether to join them. "Why don't I let you have a look at this, and I'll go get you another drink," Amanda picked up the notebook 'well, gotta give it to him, he's onto it with the ideas... this might just work' "Alrighty, I'll get the next round" she said as he walked off to the bar. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Lennox - 05-27-2012 Taking a swing from his drink after the girl lifted hers as well and returned the smile, Ian briefly looked infront of him. As he then realized she was signalling him to come over, he blinked once and slightly shrugged to himself, getting up and grabbing his drink. Stepping closer, he heard the girl saying something, nodding at her with a smile as she might had looked at him. He arrived at the table and nodded at the man, who was sitting there, doing something with the notebook, while the girl was already on her way to get something. "Ian Johnson..."
He simply said as he reached out his hand for a handshake. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Exdeathevn - 05-28-2012 Walking into the bar, his security uniform showing beneath his black coat with a blue tiger emblazoned on both shoulders, Evan took in his surroundings at a glance. His left eye twitched for a moment as he adjusted to the lighting, the sun outside had been blinding since landing. Must be in a warm season, he thought to himself. He took a mental note of a few patrons in the bar; Other than civilians there seemed to be some Liberty officials and a few other spacefarers. A faint glimmer of a memory flashed through his mind, quickly quelled by the hidden AI implanted within his brain, as he calmly took a seat in the corner and flipped open a small notepad. He flicked to a blank page, took out his pencil, and began to write what, had anyone been close enough to snoop, would appear to be a mess of scientific equations. It was obvious to anyone that he was a private Security Company person from somewhere, but his faded blue hair and pale face gave away no clue as to his origins. His voice however, as he called out to the bar tender "One Ale, thanks.", decidedly gave him away as someone from the border-worlds. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Pine - 05-28-2012 Marcus Sims walks in wearing a blue navy captain uniform. He looks around, then goes up to the bar. 'Ill have an Ale, thanks' He takes the drink and sits at the bar an relaxes for a while and looks around to notice a few semi familiar bases from earlier patrols and missions. Manhattan Bar and Lounge - Exdeathevn - 05-28-2012 Evan glances up from his scrawling to notice the newcomer, glancing around once again with an edge of shyness. Not knowing anyone from around here, he kept silent as his Ale was served, only offering a quick "Thanks." and paying for the drink before returning attention to his writing. Occasionally he would glance up, simply observing nervously as everyone around him continued to converse, drink or eat; 3 months lost in an escape pod up may have caused a loss of his social skills. |
