The wiki update status - Champ - 10-19-2011 On that note, is it necessary to restrict (player_faction) to official factions? I mean really? Because that means that every time a faction goes official, unofficial, dies off, is sanctioned, etc. etc. - that a bazillion links in their posts will be invalidated (barring redirect logic use). A faction is a faction - faction does not imply 'official', it implies organised. And if they're organised enough to have a Wiki page, chances are they're official or soon to be anyway. [/opinion] Edit: It also occurs to me that unofficial factions (at least GRP, I'm using them as my example) aren't actually listed on the player factions page. To make a contribution, I humbly suggest that we keep all player factions, dead or alive, official or otherwise with the (player_faction) tag, but either: a. Create a reference / links page for official factions, and a separate one for dead, unofficial or otherwise (they create and manage their page at their leisure)
This ensures that links aren't broken, but officiality or status is documented where the faction is. In the event an unofficial faction dies off and a wholly new faction wishes to use the same name, they could use, replace or modify the former faction's page.b. Add a column to the Player Factions page named 'Official' with ticks next to the appropriate factions. Edit: Obvious mistake noticed in the fact that the afore-suggested separate page exists. However, my point about keeping them all (player_faction) to preserve links remains valid. Which is fixed by using redirects. :$ The wiki update status - Snak5 - 10-20-2011 Moving page will leave redirect at old destination to new one. Easy stuff. Any faction can add their row to player group page. That is not my concern to add every little group that pops up once a week. The wiki update status - elrica - 10-20-2011 I noticed a few people add faction logos to the unofficial player-faction list on the wiki. I edited them all to 60px or something to tidy it up a bit. When I get some time I'll tidy it all up to look like the official player-faction list. If anyone could PM me to let me know if any factions on there are defunct and need removing...or you'd like your own added...just PM me with the necessary info. The wiki update status - Narcotic - 10-30-2011 Here's what I've done today: Steelworkers Faction added. (Finished.) W.F.Cody player character added. Credits for the text goes to Mal. Page for his shop will follow. (Unfinished.) Then I added some stuff to my three Player Characters, Lee del Sol Verde (Freelancer), Sam Steel (Steelworker) and Joe Grant (Convoy). (Finished.) A fourth character, Jim Ravensdale (Interspace Commerce), is under construction. (Unfinished.) Besides that, I thougt about adding a new section to the Player Characters, called "Player Shops". So we would have: Individual Characters, Families, Player Ships and "Player Shops". The wiki update status - Echo 7-7 - 11-03-2011 Champ and I have been doing work on the Ageira Technologies (player faction) page. Sorry for cluttering up the list of recent changes. Champ has also been hammering spam posts;) The wiki update status - Snak5 - 11-08-2011 I saw transparent Angels logo. So uploaded to wiki: http://discoverygc.com/wiki/index.php/File:Angels_Logo.png It has no name on it, but that is minor thing I think. If any of The Angels actually has or knows where to get transparent logo with name, PM me here, upload to link I wrote before, etc. The wiki update status - Error - 11-08-2011 It works just fine as it is, thanks. The one on the Wiki doesn't need to be transparent, and the original one that was doesn't exist anymore from what I know. The transparent one you saw in our recruitment thread had to be reworked from the original logo, and, to be honest, looks a lot worse. Sure, we'll have to use a different 60px pic for our faction subforum, but it doesn't matter, to be honest. Neither of those are going to be changed anytime soon, nor is the background of the wiki. Reverted for now. If I come across the transparent one (if there is one) I'll add it then. The wiki update status - Echo 7-7 - 11-08-2011 Hellfire Legion wiki paged updated. - changed faction infobox to infobox2 template. - updated and expanded diplomacy. The wiki update status - Champ - 11-10-2011 Holy moly. More and more waves of Spam. If I recall, there was some ancient discussion over the implementation of some sort of Captcha for account creation, which would no doubt put a dent into the new bots' spam pages. Thoughts on this or other ways we can combat the invaders of Spamalot? The wiki update status - Snak5 - 11-11-2011 I have already contacted Igiss several weeks ago. He said he'll contact Blodo regarding full access to wiki, so Blodo could actually change important stuff on his own. Untill then, I doubt Igiss would change stuff himself. So we should continue holy was on spam. |
