Canadian Systems - Rashnok - 07-04-2008

Remember, if the world were prison, Canada is much much bigger than the US and on top. Figure that out.

As for the Canadian systems, I wouldn't be at all opposed to some retarded Gallia-Bretonian war over them. Just get something of Canada in there. The FLC will exist!

Oh, and as for Canadians being ultra-nationalistic, 'tis not so where I live. We have parties that support both independence and becoming the 51st state, just our province. British Columbia is the most American province...

I think they should remain independent systems, like magellan / galileo / kepler / bering / hudson.

More zoner presence, more freedom to work as an unlawful in these areas. They're outside of officially established house space and as such should not become part of the houses. Everyone is currently involved in war with one another, so there isnt much focus on expansion and settling.

That, and most of those systems dont have anything other than uninhabited planets and jump holes in them.

That's... oddly fitting... most of Canada's uninhabited.

I'm at least partially kidding.

In all seriousness though, no. Bretonia is too busy getting the snot beat out of them to worry about expansion. Also, I'm pretty sure Canadian citzens wouldn't have taken the Bretonia seeing as how they're American by culture (really, you can't tell the difference between our TV stations and theirs), and as French as they are British.

Canada main beginning was at the hands of two companies: The Hudson Bay Company and Northwest.
HBC was owned by a single british lord. (similar to the beginnings of the short lived East Indian Trading Company)
Northwest was owned by the French state.
They fought over the land because of the fur trade and gave birth to capitalism
HBC won that battle, and later when England absorbed HBC's holdings the land became a commonwealth of Britain.
This when the Red Coats came and created colonial laws for the immigrated people and the idigenous people.
Aside freom technology and Canada politicaly shedding Britains mandate, I'd say not much has changed.
The First Nations, would probably best represent a frutrated group who is fighting to reclaim land.
I know this part is particularly touchy, as I carry a heavy amount of Cree blood in me, but it is authentic.

Absolutely, and really it's probably all that we Canadians can hope for. This close to the release date, Igiss isn't going to create a whole new mini house or even new factions. However, I don't think that it's overly unreasonable to expect a couple of Canadian systems, hopefully with some interesting backstories and geography. And if a ship designer is feeling generous, maybe someone can reskin an Arrow with a maple leaf pattern (see the CF-105).

*Also - Lawlessness isn't all bad, but hopefully Canada won't become yet another lawless system(s) with nothing in it for those on the straight and narrow.

Canadian Systems - Rashnok - 07-04-2008

The RCMP can maintain law and order in it. Just have to figure out which vanilla faction would suit them best.

Canadian Systems - Horon - 07-04-2008

For what its worth, shouldn't the Canadian systems belong to Gallia? Because when I think of Canada I think of France... isn't Canada of French decent or something?

Canadian Systems - Rashnok - 07-04-2008

French and English descent. France and England warred over it for a while, England won. Then the US and England warred over it for a bit. England one. Then Canada, Australia, and South Africa decided that they didn't want to be English colonies anymore. Now we're where we are today.

I'm voting for yes(yay). Adamantine has the point.

Look if the Mollies got their independence in the game then so should the Canadians BUT only if a lot of ridiculous stereotypes are included. For example, the Mollies have their gold (leprechauns anyone? they're always after me crock of gold) and terrorists (*cough*) so the Canadian systems should be full of people who say "eh" at the end of each sentence like "scanning your cargo, eh?"

This is a joke and it's Friday so laugh it up. I am Irish and I have family in Canada and I love both places. But yeah, give the Canadians independence. They're polite and respect the environment. Or so they have led me to believe......
