help needed - Colonel Z.e.r.o. - 07-13-2008 Well I dled crap cleaner and it pulled 6gigs off my drive. Which is really good. So maybe my comp will run faster. help needed - Telbasta - 07-13-2008 woot, i got my computer back up and running. Thankfully my dad (despite living 2000 miles away) is a computer genius. Apparently with the integrated board, the computer was using both Nvidia video drivers as well as nvidia network drivers. I had to go into safe mode and delete everthing then use the system restore. The video drivers I downloaded and installed had corrupted my network drivers too, so I couldnt connect to the net to fix anything until I did the system recovery. I went and got the 'official' drivers from the gateway website (comp manufacturer for my computer), everything's running now... though, I'll probably still be running laggy in-game. I may just need more ram. help needed - Mere_Mortal - 07-13-2008 I think the RAM is a possibility, but it's odd how the problem just appeared out of the blue. One gigabyte is certainly enough if it's available to the system processes, but not if on-board video is taking a quarter of it. Actually, take a look in the BIOS options to see how much memory is being allocated to the graphics, try lower settings to see if it helps. I have a feeling you might be running it at 256mb, which is quite a lot for on-board, if so try setting it to 128mb. Despite the lower amount of memory available to the graphics, performance should in fact increase considerably. help needed - Telbasta - 07-14-2008 I actually havent had the choppy graphics/lag issues at all since I got the correct updated video drivers. |
