RE: Dear "Admin" - sindroms - 08-21-2013

How about a bit of transparency?
It is because Doj replaced the ingame base models with nomad cities and made them seen from 5000k away, then used rapid firing snacs to kill them. If you ask nicely, I am sure the admins can turn them back on. Things would become funny then.

So much for leaving like you said you would Tongue

RE: Dear "Admin" - sindroms - 08-21-2013

I did not leave, never said I would. I simply said I would need a pause and 3 days were enough.

No.

Just don't.

When we want you to be a spokesperson for the whole community, we will ask you, but that is yet to happen. Not sure if ever will...

About bases: Either they get a massive rebalance, the rules are getting updated or they stay off the server until either of the other two options happen. I'd prefer the first. Or the third.

(08-21-2013, 10:40 AM)Black Widow Wrote: Im discovery's anchorman so hush

As Discovery's Official Grumpy Old Man, I can state uncategorically and without denial that you're not speaking on behalf of me, or of the faction that I lead, and from what I can gather, you're also not speaking on behalf of the other faction that I belong to.

So in other words, since you were complaining in Flood about being butt hurt because you weren't chosen as an admin, this is a pretty good example of why there was probably a good laugh on skype when your name came up. (That's my supposition, based upon my time as an admin, and is not rooted in any conspiracy theory that I'm aware of at this time. That, and it's still Zelot's fault.)

As for PoB's - hey, they were an experiment. There are both good features to them and bad features to them. The sheer fact that a PoB can end up effectively locking access to a system when the Dev team itself doesn't put anything strong enough to do so out there - even in the Gallic systems with battleships sitting right on the jump gates, you still have a chance to get passed them - shows that they're overpowered and being abused.

And of course, since we've also seen the flip side of this, where massive player fleets show up to kill the base - regardless of role play - simply because they can (and because they're a--holes with nothing better to do) shows that the negatives outweigh the positives.

There ARE positives - don't get me wrong. Players work together to put up bases in the first place. And there can be and has been role-play generated by SOME of the PoB's. (As an example of good RP generated, the OZ guys that built their base in Zeta. Away from the Jump Hole, near a planet, and said that they were allied with the Order, so they were Core enemies. Cool, we went out to assault the base every so often, we'd get some pew, they'd get some pew, and there was forum RP between CHARACTERS that was vehement and bloodthirsty - good times.)

But on the whole, the negatives - including the minor (!) detail that people were cheating using bases - to me indicates that they need to go away or be nerfed in such a fashion that they cannot be abused like they have been. And quite frankly, I don't care how long it takes - or if they ever come back - and I'm speaking on behalf of myself and as the official position of my faction (which means, again, you ain't speaking for the whole of discovery).

Sure, we all can imagine how that "fun" made by people like Doj would look like. It´s usually very one-sided fun.

Also, didn´t you leave, announcing that loudly just few days ago? Or are you back already, returning to usual trolling, also with DPC again?

EDIT: Seems some ninja was faster with that question and you with answer too. Okay.

RE: Dear "Admin" - dirmaster0 - 08-21-2013

DPC just needs to be taught a lesson, plain & simple.

RE: Dear "Admin" - Zen_Mechanics - 08-21-2013

Since I want to be "peaceful" about this, And I have said that pobs should be inspected but not limited ; Core building bases at 56/RHO infront of a jumph-hole is a 100% bullet proof - copper bottom legit.
Zoners building a station in 74 - in a dicated zoner space - exclusively zoner I must add, 100% legit.
Now, as many people suggested, Official factions have no-right * but have a say * as to who may or may not build in such areas - If I went ahead to construct a station while Im an indie Liberty blue-cop would I still have to get the approval from "officials" ? - In some sense yes, but I might as well consider myself the former president of the "unheard of" official like faction and give myself power by doing so. Just as everything in disco is imaginery, theres no limit to what I can bullshit my way out.

Having said all that, Core building a station at the cannibals house is NOT "legit" as in.. its a good idea if you find a rp support behind it, but there is no way the cannibals are gonna let you do that.
ZA was NOT told to stop, its true that at the time they didnt know what they know now, but forcing resolutions to stamp it out because things turned different from what you expected isn't going to really work.
And as I said, bullshiting your way out is easy and instead of pointing fingers ( and thats easy ) - we should invest more time to use this "crisis" to our advantage and make good use of it.
So if a bunch of gankers couldn't destroy a base and are too shallow to "talk with em" - and in term post a thread stamping the pob concept is ruthless and tasteless. But if its in the name of the popular players here, it has a social license, so I would simply say F9ck that

Slight edit : If a person cant achieve something in rp and instead turn the table to the admins, the only thing I see is weakness and zero capacity.

RE: Dear "Admin" - Omicron - 08-21-2013

TL;DR

Tel still believes that Zoner have sovereignity and Omicron 74 is untouchable saint cow.

RE: Dear "Admin" - Di'taraAlpha - 08-21-2013

Tel, Zoner space is Zoner Space, but ZA have inrp isolated themselves from the general Zoner community and seem to be the primary cause of Zonerdeath/migraines in the Sirius sector, or were, before bases were put on hold. Now all I see is ZA tagged transports/ZA untagged whales filling themselves full of base supplies and camping around for when the bases come back up. I'm not sure that's an RP legit past-time to be honest.

However, I don't really think that's why the Admins took the bases out; there's a lot of inherent glitches they need to solve before they come back, and that's the face of it. Omicron 74 probably isn't the reason (I'm assuming you were being sarcastic, Loken)? No Q_Q if you weren't but I read differently forumside.

Tel Aviv Wrote:theres no limit to what I can ***** my way out.

I guess the point that there wasn't any pre-existing Rp negotiation. For instance, it's not ok for LN to build a POB at every entrance to NY then set it to hostile, but this is all a little offtopic.
