no. we are all gamers, and should we meet in RL, we'd find that we have a lot in common. The RP of the factions that we have joined means that we are 'forced' to shoot each other, like pirate id'd players are 'forced' not to mine rocks, or to join forces with police factions. RP gives a context for the PVP. if there was no RP, then we would get really, really het up about the game, because we wouldnt have the suspension of disbelief that comes with the fact that we are 'forced' to take an action.

the lack of RP on PVP servers means that they all die, as people get fed up with the politics. as there is no rp, the politics are very much more personal. I played as WT-Mudslinger on flu24/7, and as the only clan protecting traders from piracy, we were very busy. It meant that we could undock from manhatten, and be swamped by pirates - this meant that the rest of sirius was clear of pirates, as we were fighting 6v1 odds in NY.

When the WT left Flu, the player base fell apart. we used to have to wait for a slot on the server, but now it has only 8 players online in the last week.

RP feeds pvp, and ensures that no bad feelings are created, as it happens to the character, not the player

Obviously PvP is just another form of roleplay.
