RE: Omega Defense Flotilla - faction information & feedback - Omicron - 02-11-2014

I am sorry to dissapoint you Coin but ODF are not puretech purists like SCRA. Feel free to join [RM] or said SCRA for even more purism mode on, since this is what makes you have fun on discovery. Do not force your very limited POV on everyone else just because you think that way is the best for everyone.

You have been already given reasons as to why we fly "second hand" ships. If you cannot read or cannot accept the fact, you have nothing to look for here. Why do you not complain to literally every other faction that DARES to have 100/90% cell to any other tech than their own or fields SRP's?

I fail to see you in Order| feedback, complaining about my Lich not fitting in line with The Order hardware. Hypocrite. Not to mention we do not have a single capital ship on our roster.

Perhaps some of us do not desire to be part of them in any form and shape since they have different priorities than us? ODF is pretty different and unsuited for [RM] streamlined RP as of current.

Let me allay your doubts. ODF is a snub-focused faction. The biggest ship non-leaders can use is a gunboat, and the availability of those will be very limited. Gunboat usage is only allowed to veterans in the faction and even then, they will be used rarely, if at all. What I imagine is that those would only be used in special events, where it can represent a 'flagship' of sorts or another important target.

Regarding the choice of ships: The military currently has limited resources at hand. The war with Liberty requires the best military equipment at the front. Furthermore, since the finances of the Rheinland government are limited too (most income for the politicians comes from corporations to influence decisions and taxes, since the rich are getting richer and the poor even poorer).

In this light, the ODF offers the possibility to use 'second hand ships'. Those are generally available, cheaper ships to fly. This goes especially for civilian ships. This means that more resources (material and financial) can be allocated to the libertonian front while the unlawful forces can also be dealt with. The ship diversity is meant (for my perception atleast) to inRP show some degree of desperation when it boils down to every ship at the front having an impact.

Since the ODF is going to be a constantly developing, expanding faction, the availability of Wraiths and other Rheinland ships to our pilots can go up over time.

Meh, I would've focused on a Gunboat Fleet, cuz then the name "Flotilla" would've made sense imo you disappoint me 8(

RE: Omega Defense Flotilla - faction information & feedback - sindroms - 02-11-2014

Hmmm, one BS, two or three battle transports, two GBs and the rest snubs. Boom. Flotilla.

RE: Omega Defense Flotilla - faction information & feedback - Curios - 02-11-2014

Why you want to force people to use caps when they are clearly saying they are snub oriented?

RE: Omega Defense Flotilla - faction information & feedback - sindroms - 02-11-2014

: a fleet of ships or boats; especially : a navy organizational unit consisting of two or more squadrons of small warships

Because the name of the group indicates such.
Not all of them, no. But a battletrans or freighter or two would be fun to see.

First of all, I like seeing Landers playing in Rheinland again. But on the other hand I am sad that its not on the right place...

I believe I have seen this concept in Rheinland already, it was the Westliche Rheinland fleet [WRF] that existed for a few years, but not really with much success. They have focused on the western part of Rheinland, mostly on the omegas and Stuttgart as you do too now.
The problem is that I dont think the activity in these parts is so much that it could feed the whole faction. This faction isnt even having war areas in their proposed ZoI like bordering systems with Liberty and sadly not even Dresden! ( What is actually pretty much the job of the military}

I have to agree totally with Coin here, why create a new faction instead of helping the old one to get back on its feet? We can all see that the [RM] is having hard time due the stubborn, reckless and inactive leadership it was having. The faction is suffering due the fact that there are no senior members in the [RM] that could pay attention to the recruits, teach them how to do stuff, so there is no wonder they are doing shit and its totally understandable.

I can see experienced role players in this faction, sadly they kind of go against the existing one, just avoiding the responsibilities they would get by playing the official Rheinland military faction.

I mean no offense to this faction and members, but there are more important things to be done than just putting a new faction into a not working house. Things that can be solved by cooperation and much attention to the existing environment.

This is a good reason to have mis-matched ships. I approve. now, why couldnt have this been said more clearly at the outset?

Puretech? like the BAF, BPA, Sairs, a whole bunch of other people? Quit with the name-calling, this isn't a playground, but the introduction to your faction. This is the document to which we will hold your behaviour up against, to see if we find you wanting. I appreciate that you might not consider it worthy enough a concept for you to deign to notice it, but having three times as many ships as you have players is risible. The responses of this faction to blunt questions that I have put up to countless other factions over the years (and are put to me when I start factions) have been very informative, not only in their content, but also their tone. Angry, whining complaints of why I am a failure because I cannot see their point of view. This is your faction document. If I have not seen the WHY of something, it is a deficiency of the message, not of the reader. It is not up to ME to conform to your view of what is right for the server, it is up to YOU to conform to what has gone before. Your RP must fit in with the lore of the server, as well as the RP established by players that have dedicated years to their characters. By what right do you feel that you have the power to scrub the slate clean of someone else's time-worn story. How is this justified? All I have done is ask four simple questions, and you react in this way with such vitriol. Did I upset you by asking the questions?

But im still not convinced about this. why not RM<name>(ODF)? what is wrong with approaching the RM and saying 'We'll fly under the RM flag, but we'll be under a different admiral. We'll fly in omegas and protect the back bone of our economy, you fly in the borderworlds and protect the populace against the libertonians.

Every navy has a 'home team' and an 'away team'. Some of them have three or four of each, depending on the amount of coastline they want to cover. Join the RM, fly the snubs. You won't be the first faction to do this, but it might take a bucket load of beers to assuage the feathers ruffled in omega 7. It's not that adults make any less mistakes than children, it's that we've learnt how to apologise.

RE: Omega Defense Flotilla - faction information & feedback - Mímir - 02-11-2014

Say Coin, why don't you join [RM] or make your own Rheinland Military faction that plays exactly the way you like?

I mean this is pretty pointless, isn't it? You want one thing with this faction and we want another, and that is just fine.

No but personally I am starting to get slightly annoyed with how things have to be told to you 4-5 times before it sinks in, and then you have the arrogance to say "now, why couldnt have this been said more clearly at the outset?" It's very disrespectful towards the people that spend their time answering your questions. You have a responsibility as well when you post in a feedback thread.

'at the outset' means 'in the OP'.

I have seen faction documents done well - it took ten seconds to absorb all the information, and it was clear and concise. This one is muddled right from the start, as you have no clear identity, and when I merely ask 'why not join the RM' you become extremely defensive, to the point of projecting your hostility on to me, when ALL i have done is ask why. If this faction proposal is so flimsy that one word threatens it so much, then I guess it won't be around at christmas; in fact, as soon as this current crop of miners have earned enough for their cap8's then i think the faction will quietly die away.

Please don't get me wrong, im not saying "don't do this, do that", I'm merely trying to suggest to you that the most honourable course of action in these circumstances, where you are detracting from the activity of an already-weakened faction, is to fly their tag - even if it only gives them a boost to the activity stats. Do what you like, man. You've proven yourself to be... too volatile, too passive-aggressive for me to want to hang out with you guys. Besides that, there's more gold miners in dublin, and gold pays better.
