Best MMO game ever? - Leo - 08-15-2008 ' Wrote:WAS. I think the topic says "what IS" the best MMO game ever You're out of the loop. They've been working on a new SWG for a while now, should be out middle of 2009, look it up, they set the release date around the time Star Trek Online comes out...isn't that interesting? :P ~Leo Best MMO game ever? - John Keel - 08-15-2008 Haha... Star Trek online... I've only ever played Lotr Online, and didn't even do that for long, though I did enjoy it quite a lot, good community if you find a decent clan, and playing on the RP server was quite fun sometimes. Also the PVP MP between free peoples and creeps was fun. I ran a little Warg pack, terrorising those goody-two-shoes... ^_^ Best MMO game ever? - El Nino - 08-15-2008 Clearly It's Discovery... Especialy if you avoid NY... Best MMO game ever? - Lohingren - 08-15-2008 to be honest in terms of Skill and fun Air rivals is actually the best:P really fun flying mmo some AWSOME wars, enough to put FL wars to shame Best MMO game ever? - Bill Christ. - 08-24-2008 I would say SWG. But SOE really put me off continuing the game due to having pay for a subscription to all their games or not at all! Typical of Sony. Don't like point & click games so WoW, Eve and all other non-Real time combat mmo's are not worth looking at imo. It's why i'm playing Disco!:D Best MMO game ever? - obnoxious1 - 08-24-2008 Mech Warriors Mercs (NBT hardcore version) Freelancer (On Disco of course) SWG DF: BHD COD4 WoW is for those unfortunate few that are cross eyed & cant aim a gun or ship & will end up looking like Cartman in the SP episode featuring WoW. I played WoW, many elements of it were interesting though with the addition of Burning Crusade it became more difficult as a base for roleplay. As perhaps is the case for any level/grind based game. Lineage 2 (Lionna) was better, because you didn't realistically expect to reach the highest level, or not for years, so there was less drive to do so. The Rp potential for this game I found to be superior to that of WoW. Guild Wars... trade spam. Rp is non-existent. Like attempting to roleplay a terrorist in counter-strike. EVE online had some potential for rp, but it got to the point where rp wasn't even necessary anymore. The game grew so complex with its political, industrial and military network that the meta-game was by far enough. The game as a whole didn't hold me for more than a year though. Very good lore and stories though, I'd advise anyone to check out the backstory link at their official website. As for the rest, I've no idea as I haven't played them. I'm thin! Stick-figure thin! I can't aim worth crap in Freelancer, though, so you are right on one count. I play a mean sniper in some FPSes, though - all the headshots, none of the stupid idle standing. Mild paranoia has its advantages.:) I've played WoW, Gunbound, City of Heroes/Villains, and Ragnarok Online on private servers, and each had its strong points. WoW: The first time through an area as an herbalist/alchemist or miner/whatever, exploring is quite enjoyable, especially if you're not getting dragged from place to place by guild members just looking to pwn some noobs. I used whatever gear I could find, was still a threat in low to mid-level battlegrounds regularly ranking in the Alliance top 3 in L29 and L39 BGs even with my mostly scavenged gear (I have always loved Rogues in any game), and didn't have the pressures of reaching 70 to grind for equipment keeping me from enjoying the game casually rather than playing for hours on end. Well, more hours on end; I play everything for at least 4 hours at a time, just how I am. Cons? Community is utterly retarded, and that's putting it kindly. Think Chuck Norris is funny? Play WoW, that'll change in three days. Gunbound: Skill-based, yay. A shame I suck, though. I still have fun playing with friends, and in Avatar Off servers, you can pick your outfit purely based on appearance. I have two main avatars now, one typical Mysterious Shadowy Wanderer Carrying A Halberd (ok, guess that last part's a bit unusual) and one mage-style setup. I also have a prototype digging avatar for Avatar-On, with maxed out +Dig and +Atk. Needs some speed boosts, though. Official servers tend to be clogged with non-English speakers. While I have nothing against them as people, part of the point of playing an online game is being able to talk to people. So, even though the official server is free, I play on a private server. With respect to the forum rules, I'll not publicly say more... except that I wish they hadn't changed the music on this server. Argh. CoH/V: Remember what I said about WoW's community? Outside of the forums, CoH/V has almost none of that. On the forums, well, every game has its stupidity. A great game for casual players, and reportedly the Virtue server has a lot of roleplaying, but I was playing to play a game with friends, so I wasn't there. Also great for those who like customization, as no enhancements (as close as CoH gets to equipment) are actually visible. Cons? Remember what I said about enjoying WoW's exploration? Yeah, CoH/V has none of that. Also, it doesn't seem to run as smoothly as WoW. Both have framerate issues because my computer sucks, but WoW seems to handle them more gracefully. Ragnarok Online: I'd never pay to play this. It was my first MMO, and it's one that still holds a small place in my heart, but... it's just not good enough to pay for. Luckily, I never paid for it. Forum rules, etc, so I'm not saying more. Which is the best? I still play Gunbound, but it's mainly a lack of income keeping me from playing CoH and/or WoW with some friends. I live in a crappy little town with nothing to do, so I play video games. But with the exception of Tetris Attack (which I have to play every night or I have trouble sleeping, yes, I know that's odd) I just don't get addicted to any one game. (edit: oh god I talk a lot whem I'm tired) Best MMO game ever? - jshkornmiller - 08-24-2008 ' Wrote:WoW is for those unfortunate few that are cross eyed & cant aim a gun or ship & will end up looking like Cartman in the SP episode featuring WoW. Really? Amazing, i didn't know you had to have skill to raid SSO, or BT. So we can just Waltz right in there and it takes no skill eh?:nono: Think about 25-man raid with Very educated Raid leaders, and vent plus, without proper gear IE; T5/T6 you would fail at first mob. Takes many months or skill improving and getting proper gear to do this, not just a game for kids. yes, those many children play the game, but rarely do they ever reach lvl 30, let alone getting to lvl 70. ;) So, my favorite MMO is World of Warcraft, Then Discovery Freelancer. :yahoo: |
