Edit: Could you explain how people were adversely affected?

There simply is no way to catch every Alt account that posts out of the roleplay section, which causes quite a few issues with those that get caused. I think you know how the whole 'Q_Q why treat him different than me' 'Oh look he is posting with an Alt, why did you slap mine and not his?' thing works.
There is still a rule against trolling, we just removed something that is not entirely necessary as Alts that are used for trolling and everyone else that does it will still be caught by that one (1.2 for reference).

Thanks for the answer on the staff's thinking. I don't necessarily agree with it all, that said, I appreciate you taking the time to give a more detailed reason for the decision.

I don't think anyone was adversely effected. This way is just a bit less ham handed. As the rule is written now, we can deal with individuals who are actually causing a problem and not go after everyone who has an alt account.

Well, as mwerte used it as a rational for the rule change, I just assumed that was the motivating factor.

Wait, if this was a rule, then why was Zuke allowed to have Craig Furguson?

Because Craig existed before this rule.

Sorry for being at work and not able to respond to your beck and call Zelot. I'll try to be faster next time.

Those that were adversely effected were those that had alt accounts banned, while other alt accounts were allowed to roam free.

Rules should be enforced equally, and so the choice was to go through and check everybody's accounts to see if they were using alts, or to amend the rules to state what we were already doing; letting those who use alt accounts in a non trollish manner slide (turn a blind eye), and still punish trolls under 1.2. We opted for the later.

You were an admin, you know that we know who the nuance accounts belong to, and have ways of finding out. Just because someone is using an alt account to troll doesn't mean that their main account won't be punished as well. Just as a server violation doesn't always impact only the character that committed it.

Oh good mwerte, you're starting to learn your place. (Zelots personal person-who-answers-when-called)

So does this mean Karlotta alts can stay now?

RE: Removal of the alt forum accounts rule - The Mark of Alte! - 03-23-2014

I guess all my altes alts can come out of hiding.

RE: Removal of the alt forum accounts rule - D.Q - 03-23-2014

What happens to non-rp altes alts? They're good to use now right?

RE: Removal of the alt forum accounts rule - The Creature - 03-23-2014

So long we don't troll with our altes alts? Right?
