I did do that, cutting his hull to 25% before convincing him to stay.

I know Zygoeths personally, and he's not bad. We went on a raid on the outcast together, and held Malta for some time. I don't think you should deny anything from him. As far as I'm concerned, he's welcome anywhere Corsair owned. As for the other factions, I can't say.
