systems..i ever wanted to know for what the sector "Omicron Lost" is good....nothing there but some suns and a planet..or am i wrong??

And whats with all the bugged "unknown" sectors? One leads into grey space (I guess the sphere from wrong angle) other leads to the nomad lair without the script to change between inside and outside...

Quote:i could probably have a chance to have battlehships, but probably only a small part of the clan could own them. Depending on the size of the clan, it could have lots of battleships or a little.

Bah, Battleships. Clan fleets should be comprised of a balanced mix of ship types, I hate seeing nothing but Battleships in a fight, it would never happen. As it stands, there are rarely more than 5 members per clan on at any one time, so there should rarely be Battleships on, a more likely fleet would be a cruiser patrol group or a fighter escorted bomber wing or something. I mean the other day there wasn't many people on and the one player I thought about roleplaying with (as the others were busy trading) was swanning around in a House system gunning down the navy in a Battleship. How am I supposed to interact with that? My options for combat are limited to recruiting a cruiser battle group or getting my own Battleship, completely against my character.

If I could have my way Battleships would be limited to say... 1 per 5 players in a faction, and only to factions. They should be sacred, revered, epic ships of war, the pinnacle of every navy only used in battle. They'd certainly hold a lot more respect if every player on the server didn't have one.

So then we would need civilian battleships (or private fighting vessels) with the power of in between a gunboat and a cruiser or maybe just slightly more powerfull than a military cruiser. After all if you read history around the time america was being colonized (especially around the carribean) there were pirates in their combat vessels and there were privateers with their own equiped ship to fight them off. In freelancer this could be the equivalant of a large train with a navy cruiser fighting capacity or slightly less. Now refering to the factions and ship limit i think (after seeing alot of patrols) i think there should be a system like the following: the leader should have the same or next level ship in the faction. In other words the leader can have a GB or a fighter to being with but for this to happen minimun 2 other active players must have some kind of fighter or bomber. Then once the player has 4 members the leader can get a cruiser/destroyer and the next in the chain of command would get a GB and have 2 fighters. However the leader cant get a battleship till the fleet becomes 2 GB and 4 fighters so after the faction gets an 8th member the leader can now get a BS and ranks move arounds and stuff. In the end Before a second BS can be added the faction's navy should have 1 BS, 2 cruisers/destroyers, 4 GB and 8 fighters. so only factions with 16+ members can get 2 BS in their fleets. This puts a limit on the BS in the game, makes the factions rely more on tactics than firepower, thus in the end make the game fairly more balanced. Then we would need to boost up the prices for the capital ships (in exception of GB) making the cheapest BS cost at least half of what buying a system costs. The cheapest cruiser/destroyer costing at least 1/3 of what a system costs. This will make factions have traders working more to improve thier navy rather than everyone working for themselves (like it is mostly seen right now). I think that the factions should all agree to a certain control system before they start buying systems (I would expect that all the current factions that have systems should agree 100% with terms like these cause it would affect all of them). As for the factions without systems would have to go under a separate set of rules (a little harser so that they consider buying a system to get benifits). For example instead of the leader having a GB with 2 other player fighters now they have to be 3. So for them to get a cruiser/destroyer they now need 4 other players, and for them to get a BS they need minimum 9 players (10 if you count the leader) to get a BS. So to get a second BS now you would need the total of 19+ players. This means that they could consider buying a system to get a second BS alot faster. Anyway i am going to post this in more detail in a new post, but i will at least leave you guys with a thought of what im talking about.

you should not limit ships to ranks, ie "battleship for leader", what if he doesnt want a battleship?

faction ships is enough.

Sirius systems - romer - 07-09-2006

And what about 'freelancers' who might want a battleship?

Sirius systems - kiggles - 07-09-2006

Ok guys this topic has done what it was ment to can you make a new one.

Kiggles

Sirius systems - Teaboy - 07-09-2006

freelancers should be free to choose, as long as it says "civilian" next to it, so an eagle would be agood VHF to use
cos lets face it

where can you go as a civilian and buy a battleship? would they really be that stupid. hehe

Sirius systems - romer - 07-09-2006

As a freelancer you should be able to buy whatever ship you like. For RP puposes, you can explain having any ship in the game. With a little bit of imagination.

BTW Kiggles is right, this is getting off topic a bit.

Sirius systems - Teaboy - 07-09-2006

so when the RAF come after me cos ive stolen a tornado jet, i just say some RP story and its ok?

i dont think the US navy would take kindly if stole one of their battleships and started waltzing around the pacific in it.

but this leads me to say, if you are a freelancer, and you have a house faction ship, you must be Full red with that faction, as you clearly stole the ship (that could be the RP excuse) so therefore theyd hate you, and all other housefactions would take a dim view and should be enemies aswell.

Sirius systems - romer - 07-09-2006

Well, there's actually vendors who sell old fighter jets and what not. And Angel has shown us that if you have the right money you can get your own tank...

I'm sure that for the right price you could buy an old Navy warship...minus all the weapons of course. Stealing one though...that would be an impressive feat indeed.
