EVE online is a perfect example. In EVE, unless your in a huge corp that will refund you, the risk of going out into space is far greater than the reward. having to wait for a large enough group to go mine/trade for enough money to pay for your deaths while mining/trading.

too much like work, and we all know that isn't fun.

how about we stop trying to fix what isn't broken

//signed.. please .. the 4 hour rule is enough. And i rarely trade anyway this would annoy me in a big way if we had to pay for deaths

The only reason RP on here works is because there is no significant cost to death. If, for example, death resulted in a credit penalty then I suspect the server's supply of Xenos would dry up.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if there was an automatic temporary ban on the dead character. Not the whole account, just the character who got vaped.

Course, then practice fights would be irritating...

In my experience, which admittedly isn't as much as a lot of you, I've never seen the death rules abused. Most people who do so and re-engage are rather quickly reported and sanctioned. An auto-ban after dying would give the admins a whole new excuse to sift through every time someone is automatically banned for cheating ("I was killed and the autoban never went away!"). I realize it probably wasn't a serious request Orin, just throwing my two cents out there.

Overall, I think the current system works fine.

Yeah, not much of a serious request. Although we do get a lot of reengagers, they're taken care of fine enough.

I'm with Dreygon, don't try and fix what isn't broken.

Whenever my ship gets blown up I normally throw the monitor off the wall, set fire to my computer and scream while I ransack my room and throw everything around the place. I occasionally will throw myself on the floor and scream for someone to "Hit the eject button!"

There. Realistic enough? You should see me play Counterstrike...

Has anyone thought about the cost of bots, batts, torps, CDs, and CMs? If you use the autobuy feature (like I do) deaths can be expensive enough as is.
