Nope, anonymity is the only advantage new players have on this server.
Surprise will be a hard thing to find also. And surprise is important for a video game.

Freelancer IFF?
This creates a major advantage of generic traders over corporate ones for example. Because they cannot be determined via the player list. An even greater advantage an indy pirate would have using a Pirate ID and a Freelancer IFF over a non-generic pirate. Because they can track down others while they will show up as Freelancers.
tl;dr This gives a major (unfair) boost to generic IDs and Freelancer IFF in general.

The Pirate ID is getting forced to Pirate IFF in the near future though, that's a planned addition.
