RE: Zappers? - SnakeLancerHaven - 08-09-2015

Still if there is no use for Zapper, replace with something useful, Gattlings. gg

In fact the current zappers are nothing more than a low-damaging weapon with very high projectile speed and invisible projectiles (replaced with an eye-candy beam effect only). Perhaps just make them into a normal projectile-firing weapons which trade-off energy efficiency and damage for increased projectile speed and thus accuracy (kind of a more extreme version of the solaris?)

Or at least have them shoot at the direction you want them to.

There's one reason why we don't have 16.88 guns that we used to have:

Ping.

RE: Zappers? - andy0514 - 08-09-2015

By more extreme I am actually referring to like a precision weapon system that has lower or similar refire rate as the current solaris (maybe 3.03 or 4.00?) (not gatling), but with lower damage and higher projectile speed that the current solaris. This seems kind of fulfill the original purpose of the zapper: Being a very fast and accurate weapon but with low damage and relatively low range.

Aka Rail Guns, or what did we have the last time as Heavies? There was a replacement for Razors once, thought it was Rail gun hmm... Wait. Rail Coil or wat, meh I forgot.

RE: Zappers? - Fluffyball - 08-09-2015

Actually the railguns would have a pretty long range due to the fact that speed of a projectile (usually small metalic object) is pretty high. Additionally, its a kinetic, not energy-based, weaponry.

I'd love to see actual Homeworld-esque Ion Cannon in action. Very slow refire rate, moderate range, pretty high damage count.

Someone reminds me to ask RNC_Freelancer to include Multibeam Frigate fire sound from Cataclysm.
