Then shadowy ships enter near the end and all hell breaks loose, where a planet with the halo of the sun comes around, and the Freelancer Discovery Reunion banner comes up with a genius slogan and a release date.
A rough idea I thought of as I typed. I could go into more detail if you think its a good idea.

FADE TO BLACK
Hint at something in the next release, build anticipation, make the viewer want to DL the new patch just to see what you never showed them.
You don't need to show anything from what you are talking about to make people want it, to have it, to get their hands on it.
use a character, use a story line, use something in the rp sections, and right when you are "Going to show" the newest badest big boy on the block you fade to black. or just cut..
my time on this is over, I have given tips, just think of how movie trailers are made when they have not even filmed one minute.

The trailer doesn't need to show the Gallia ships, just shadows in the sun kind of effect, building suspense. End it with epic orchastral music and we have a winner trailer. BAIT the audience, MAKE them want to download the pack. DON'T give the whole game away.
Look at the Halo 3: Recon. I want it. Even the Starcraft II trailer made me sick as a parrot that I couldn't play it... But I WANTED IT!

I was thinking something like the NEXUS 2 trailer. Where they make it look so epic. You WANT to buy it!
I would give a preview of the planets and systems, along with cool scenes with battles and special effects.

we need people (2 perhaps) in camera ship and as many player as possible in staring.
I'm thinking of player fleet parade (everyone on server disguise themselves flying valkyrie, some gunboats, some cruiser and battleships for example), fight, fly by of esthetic systems from nice angle of filming, etc. I'm not sure for battle, since these tend to be somewhat boring unless we go on no regen no shield or something like that. Quick, enjoyable
