RE: Loss - SummerMcLovin - 11-10-2015 Is there going to be an RP announcement from the admin about "the great Neural Net crash of 822" so that everyone's story matches up? Probably best not to powergame the blame onto any faction to avoid the Munich backlash onto Kusari, for example. Could maybe say it was some corruption left by the remnants of the Gallic Junkers (since they had the capability to copy the whole thing before Gallia was revealed) or maybe they had the backup. Losing any recovered and reposted stuff again for any reason would be really, really annoying. Also advice for everyone - the method Jarl presented (kudos to him by the way) also partially works for threads which were not lost all, but some posts were. Just copy the url of the thread and hope google cached the posts so you can retrieve the text. And by the way big kudos to Alley and everyone else who dedicated time and effort to fix the situation as soon as possible. Especially when some threads will be probably reposted or created again and just date will be set back to the original time inRP. RE: Loss - Alley - 11-10-2015 yes, forums are fine now. One more question with no ill meaning behind it - do we have now enabled making of regular forum backups stored outside of the server, so situation like this won´t happen again? RE: Loss - Alley - 11-10-2015 I haven't got around doing it yet, but it will be done as soon as things are somewhat back in shape. I will handle it myself this time instead of asking someone to do it. RE: Loss - Dimon - 11-10-2015 I'll drink for it... And (nerd) return to the work RE: Loss - Alestone - 11-10-2015 (11-10-2015, 09:54 AM)TheJarl Wrote: To recover at least parts of lost threads, members can try the following to find cached versions. If you have or are willing to use Chrome, there is an extension called Cache Browser that will pull the latest version of a page from the the Google cache if the link does not resolve. This may or may not be useful, now that the site is up but will definitely be a help with most completely lost threads. RE: Loss - Thunderer - 11-10-2015 At least I studied like banned. Oh well. It was good while it lasted. I'm not asking to be banned, no! I haven't reached that point, yet! Thanks to the staff for restoring the stuff though. And to TheJarl for the cache hint.
