RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - Operator - 02-22-2016 Uhn... I think they should return O11-O5 JH back. RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - Teerin - 02-24-2016 I like the amount of voting that has gone on so far, as well as the discussion. This thread will remain open until (at the very least) the end of this coming weekend. If you have not already read this and cast your opinion, please do so. Related; I'd really appreciate it if people would stop voting with alt or faction accounts. Not only is it poor form, but it's also going to backfire on you since I'm a moderator and know exactly who is who. Have some integrity, folks. RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - Durandal - 02-24-2016 I originally wanted to keep things the way things were (option C) as I did not want to move Cadiz further away from Bretonia, giving the Corsairs an even longer raid time. The popular vote however has clearly come down to switching the system's position or merging it with another one, and frankly I believe a merge would be a massive mistake as you're going to run into the following issues: - Economy. This is a big one even though I'm sure many of you don't care. Omega 9 was originally added by @AeternusDoleo due to trade issues, and it would make a lot of routes far too quick if it were to disappear. - Cramping. I'm surprised the IMG voted to have the systems merged when they're familiar with the nightmare that is Tau 23. Omega 5 has quite enough going on as is without adding even more jumpholes to it. Useful systems are good. Complete regional dominance of activity by a single system is bad. - Expansion. This is probably the biggest personal issue I have with removing the system. Discovery has a serious lack of 'wilderness' systems so to speak. Omega 9 currently offers a unique environment seen probably nowhere else with the exception of Omicron Lost in that it allows players to set up bases and have fights without any interference by NPCs. This is huge and very important, and I'd ideally like to see one system like this per borderworld region (One Sigma, one Tau, one Omega, one Omicron). So I'm voting for a switch, and I'd urge anyone who didn't to consider these issues, as they might just change your mind. Lost draws players in because of it's atmosphere and lore. Omega-9 offers nothing whatsoever - not even interesting infocards. RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - Vito - 02-24-2016 Option C doesn't mean "keep things as they are", it means "keep plans as they are" which in turn, means removing the Omega 5 - Omega 41 link and other stuff Teerin wrote in the opening post. Tell that to the multitude of silent powertraders who use it because it doesn't have loads of scary Hessians and Corsairs. Anyway I think that's a matter of personal opinion. I hate the radial symmetry of the system myself, but the emptiness of the whole thing is very nice. Currently, in my opinion, we should cut down the number of systems to increase the chances of interaction. Losing time travelling through empty systems to get to interaction is something that shouldn't be ignored. Second thing is that option A isn't viable for the Corsairs. We had o41-o5 connection since vanilla and we would hate to see it severed. Omega 5 is very important for our activity since it hosts battles almost on a daily basis, whether it is BAF, RHA, SCRA or some loco trader trying to escape through the minefield. Therefore, option B, in my humble opinion, is the best option for Omega activity and Corsairs. RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - SnakeLancerHaven - 02-25-2016 Yah, that system was an annoyance tbh lol. Omega-9 always seemed like a hinderance, so I'd say merge (B). Considering that approximately two dozen systems will have been removed between 4.87 Initial and 4.88 Final, a few extra like Omega-9, Omicron Lost, and Kansas aren't really problematic. You are mistaken; Option A (unlike Option C, the current plans) keeps the Omega-41 connection to Omega-5 RE: Omegas Rework Poll - Omega-9 - Clavius - 02-25-2016 (02-25-2016, 04:16 AM)Teerin Wrote: You are mistaken; Option A (unlike Option C, the current plans) keeps the Omega-41 connection to Omega-5 Omega 9 is still an issue though Note to self: Don't respond on threads except flood at 4am
